Book Discursive Leadership A Sustainable Leadership Approach

Download or read book Discursive Leadership A Sustainable Leadership Approach written by Chad Prosser and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2019-03-15 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Academic Paper from the year 2019 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, Mississippi State University, language: English, abstract: Leadership is a critical element in any field. Countless amount of research has been poured into the study of leadership. Yet seemingly there is always room for more as social constructs change within our societies. While there are certain constants that have been proven within the leadership field, the uncertainties have been faced with creative leaders at the right place, right time. Unknown to many as a style of leadership, the discursive leadership methodology seems to utilize the art of framing words and ideals through a common language set to build upon organizational values and standards. Further, it places more responsibility on subordinates to pave the way for the organization’s future; all the while, the leader of the organization is simply guiding their intent to meet their endstate but subordinates feel as if they were the ones to have created and made the change possible. However, as with any subject, discursive leadership methodologies need much more research to validate its potential as a sustainable leadership approach.

Book Leadership Talk

Download or read book Leadership Talk written by Robyn Walker and published by Business Expert Press. This book was released on 2014-01-31 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditionally, management theories have taken a psychological approach to leadership, often assuming that it is a personality trait located within an individual. In contrast, the discursive approach to leadership, which is the focus of this book, assumes that leadership is created through communication practices. As a leader, this book will provide you with an in-depth look at an emerging approach to the study of business leadership that focuses on language as a vehicle for communicating leadership. The authors explore a new definition of leadership as the expression of ideas in talk or in action that are recognized by others as capable of progressing tasks or solving problems. The practical implication of this view of leadership suggests that leaders must constantly enact and communicate their relationship to their followers in such a way as to be recognized by them as a leader. Inside, you and future leaders will learn how to approach leadership more effectively as a communication practice that involves and depends upon the response of potential followers.

Book Routledge Handbook of Conflict Response and Leadership in Africa

Download or read book Routledge Handbook of Conflict Response and Leadership in Africa written by Alpaslan Özerdem and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-09-14 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook explores the challenges and opportunities for leadership and conflict response in the context of Africa at several levels. Leadership plays a vital role in affecting conflict response but is frequently only examined at the macro level of state, government, and international organizations. This handbook addresses the need to explore challenges and opportunities for leadership at several levels: macro (global, regional, national), meso (NGOs, religious groups, academics), and micro (civil society organizations, youth groups, women’s organizations). Analysis from multiple levels provides a broader explanation of conflict dynamics and helps to fit localized conflict transformation approaches into wider national or regional structures. The multidisciplinary essays presented in this volume encompass the psychological, political, and structural dimensions of conflict response and demonstrate how its success is fundamentally linked to the style of effectiveness of leadership, among other factors. The volume is divided into four thematic sections: Part I: The theory and dynamics of conflict response and leadership Part II: Macro-level leadership experiences in conflict response Part III: Meso-/micro-level leadership experiences in conflict response Part IV: Recommendations for improved leadership in conflict response This book will be of much interest to students of conflict resolution, peace studies, African politics, security studies, and international relations, in general.

There are many challenges that still remain when it comes to establishing responsible leadership both in theory and practice. Whilst offering conceptualisations for the improvement of leadership is a first and perhaps easier response, what is more difficult is to facilitate the actual change to happen. These chapters will not only generate interest in the emerging domain of studies on responsible leadership, but also will pave the way for future research in this area in the years to come. Book Sustainable Leadership

Download or read book Sustainable Leadership written by David Ducheyne and published by Die Keure Publishing. This book was released on 2017-05-19 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to lead efficiently in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world? Leadership has never been as difficult as it is today. And it has never been as crucial. In this VUCA world people ask leaders to provide certainty. They cannot. In the volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world certainty comes from character. Leaders can base their leadership on empathy, fairness, kindness and reciprocity. These basic human elements are under pressure. This book provides both emerging and established leaders with the ingredients they need to develop a sustainable leadership style. EXCERPT A newly appointed CEO wrote that she wants to find a balance between her own values and what is expected from her. I hope for her that both are not too far apart. The board of the company chose her to do the job because of who she is, not because of who she is not. And here is the main challenge for those who are in a leadership role. How can you be a leader and still remain yourself? Something in leadership or in its context seems to urge people to change and become someone else. But leaders are not actors. If I can give only one advice: do not change who you are. You can be (come more of) yourself and grow as a person. But the moment you try and change who you are, you lose the only thing that is sustainable and dear to you: your character. This book is about sustainable leadership based on character. ABOUT THE AUTHOR David Ducheyne wrote this book as a source of inspiration for leaders who are looking for ways to maintain their leadership in VUCA times. It’s also a documented intention to try and do better.
