Download or read book Robust Control and Linear Parameter Varying Approaches written by Olivier Sename and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-02-01 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vehicles are complex systems (non-linear, multi-variable) where the abundance of embedded controllers should ensure better security. This book aims at emphasizing the interest and potential of Linear Parameter Varying methods within the framework of vehicle dynamics, e.g. proposed control-oriented model, complex enough to handle some system non linearities but still simple for control or observer design, take into account the adaptability of the vehicle's response to driving situations, to the driver request and/or to the road sollicitations, manage interactions between various actuators to optimize the dynamic behavior of vehicles. This book results from the 32th International Summer School in Automatic that held in Grenoble, France, in September 2011, where recent methods (based on robust control and LPV technics), then applied to the control of vehicle dynamics, have been presented. After some theoretical background and a view on some recent works on LPV approaches (for modelling, analysis, control, observation and diagnosis), the main emphasis is put on road vehicles but some illustrations are concerned with railway, aerospace and underwater vehicles. The main objective of the book is to demonstrate the value of this approach for controlling the dynamic behavior of vehicles. It presents, in a rm way, background and new results on LPV methods and their application to vehicle dynamics.

Download or read book Discrete Choice Methods with Simulation written by Kenneth Train and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2009-07-06 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the new generation of discrete choice methods, focusing on the many advances that are made possible by simulation. Researchers use these statistical methods to examine the choices that consumers, households, firms, and other agents make. Each of the major models is covered: logit, generalized extreme value, or GEV (including nested and cross-nested logits), probit, and mixed logit, plus a variety of specifications that build on these basics. Simulation-assisted estimation procedures are investigated and compared, including maximum stimulated likelihood, method of simulated moments, and method of simulated scores. Procedures for drawing from densities are described, including variance reduction techniques such as anithetics and Halton draws. Recent advances in Bayesian procedures are explored, including the use of the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm and its variant Gibbs sampling. The second edition adds chapters on endogeneity and expectation-maximization (EM) algorithms. No other book incorporates all these fields, which have arisen in the past 25 years. The procedures are applicable in many fields, including energy, transportation, environmental studies, health, labor, and marketing.
Download or read book Control Systems Design written by Štefan Kozák and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 2000 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of the IFAC Conference Control Systems Design was to bring together researchers and practitioners dealing with new theoretical and applied Control Engineering Areas, to report on current theoretical developments as well as applications in a variety of practical problems. The Conference addressed a wide interdisciplinary range of topics (Linear and Non-linear Control, Adaptive and Self-Tuning Control, Robust Control, Discrete Event Dynamic Systems Control, Predictive Control, Intelligent Control and Manufacturing). A large number of scientists and researchers in leading research institutions and universities from more than 25 countries participated in the Conference, and 110 papers were presented; papers were organised within one plenary, six regular, two invited and four poster sessions covering the following fields: -Linear and Non-linear Control Systems Design -Predictive Control Systems Design -Discrete Event Dynamic Systems Design -Robust Control Systems Design -Control Systems Design Applications A Round Table Discussion with the title Quo Vadis, Control Systems Design? allowed the attendees to join a broad discussion regarding the acceptance of new control methods in individual countries. The IFAC Conference Control Systems Design 2000 had a high professional level and has contributed to outlining the directions for further development of advanced control methods and their practice.

Download or read book Adaptive Systems in Control and Signal Processing 1989 written by T.S. Durrani and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 629 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Symposium covered three major areas: adaptive control, identification and signal processing. In all three, new developments were discussed covering both theoretical and applications research. Within the subject area of adaptive control the discussion centred around the challenges of robust control design to unmodelled dynamics, robust parameter estimation and enhanced performance from the estimator, while the papers on identification took the theme of it being a bridge between adaptive control and signal processing. The final area looked at two aspects of signal processing: recursive estimation and adaptive filters.
