Book Discovering Your Dawn

Download or read book Discovering Your Dawn written by Katherine Miracle and published by . This book was released on 2009-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When was the last time you made a decision? In all probability, it was moments ago. Making decisions is an inescapable necessity. Were you consciously aware of having made a decision---and, if so, were you aware of the process you used? Decision making is one-third logical and two-thirds psychological. As adults, we have been formed by the many influences in our environment. These include experiences in which we have actively participated, such as formal education, supervised job training, and employment. Other influences arose outside our control, yet they exerted an equal---if not stronger---role in our development. Collectively, these influences give direction to how we make decisions. The requirements for making a decision are deceptively simple: knowledge of the past, present knowledge, and awareness of future possibilities. In order to arrive at a decision, you must first consider those factors in the past that are relevant to the pending decision. Next, you will want to consider conditions that exist at the moment. Before making your final decision, you must give careful thought to what the results of your choice might be. Reviewing the three requirements, it would appear that decision making is a relatively easy process to execute. Its simplicity should allow you not only to make a decision, but to make the decision that is the most appropriate. Yet, we know that this is not always true. Relevant and accurate information is essential. In job hunting, two major sources of information serve as a basis for decision making: knowledge of the world of work in which you will function, and self-knowledge. Knowing yourself is the key that opens the door through which you will travel on your journey to fearless job hunting. Nonetheless, to "The life experiences and messages are a hit on college campus and among youth who are unprepared for out of left field life experiences. Katherine provides a direction and roadmap for them to follow. She's got content, personality and a passion to share the message." Don Philabaum, CEO, Internet Strategies "I just now finished your book, and honestly, I cannot even express the way I feel right now. I still have goose bumps. I can relate to quite a few aspects, events, and feelings conveyed in your story and truly, from the bottom of my heart, want to thank you for sharing it with me! It was absolutely Something I needed to read at this point in my life, and I want you to know that you really are an inspiration, and I just pray that one day I can be half as strong as you are!" Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a lively exploration of the amazing revelation known to Mormons as the “Word of Wisdom.” It counsels us how and what we should eat to reach our highest potential, both physically and spiritually. New and surprising insights are presented through the perspective of what has been proven to be the healthiest human diet, a way of eating supported both by history and by science: a whole food, plant-based (WFPB) diet. WFPB vegetarian diets have been scientifically proven to both prevent and cure chronic disease, help you achieve your maximum physical potential, and make it easy to reach and maintain your ideal weight. In this book, you’ll find the stories of dozens of people who are enjoying the blessings of following a Word of Wisdom diet, and you’ll get concrete advice on how to get started! You will discover: What we should and should not eat to enjoy maximum physical health. How food is intimately connected to our spiritual well being. Why Latter-day Saints are succumbing to the same chronic diseases as the rest of the population, despite not smoking, drinking, or doing drugs. How the Word of Wisdom was designed specifically for our day. How you can receive the “hidden treasures” and other blessings promised in the Word of Wisdom. Why eating the foods God has ordained for our use is better not just for our bodies, but for the animals and for the earth. You may think you know what the Word of Wisdom says, but you’ll be amazed at what you have missed. Learn why Mormons all over the world are “waking up” to the Word of Wisdom!

Book excerpt: Is it possible to embrace suffering as a privilege, rather than a punishment? Beloved authors Katherine and Jay Wolf offer readers the bold invitation to trust a known God with an unknown future, as well as practical insights into surviving anything by redefining how we think about everything. After miraculously surviving a near-fatal brainstem stroke at age 26, as told in their memoir, Hope Heals, life for Katherine and Jay Wolf changed forever - and so did the way they viewed God, the world, and themselves in it. There was no going back to normal after such a tragedy. Yet Katherine and Jay learned that suffering is not the end, but rather the beginning of a new story. In Suffer Strong, they invite us into this new story as they share universal lessons and helpful practices that will help us to: Recognize we are being equipped for an uncommon assignment, not cursed by our story. Transform our unmet expectations into brave anticipations. Disrupt the myth that joy can only be found in a pain-free life. Rewrite the narrative of hard circumstances by turning our definitions of suffering into declarations of strength. And, ultimately, thrive even in the lives we never imagined living.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Borman approaches her topic with huge enthusiasm and a keen eye for entertaining...this is a very human story of a remarkable family, full of vignettes that sit long in the mind.' Dan Jones, The Sunday Times 'Tracy Borman's eye for detail is impressive; the book is packed with fascinating courtly minutiae... this is a wonderful book.' The Times 'Borman is an authoritative and engaging writer, good at prising out those humanising details that make the past alive to us.' The Observer 'Fascinating, detailed account of the everyday reality of the royals... This is a book of rich scholarship.' Daily Mail 'Tracy Borman's passion for the Tudor period shines forth from the pages of this fascinatingly detailed book, which vividly illuminates what went on behind the scenes at the Tudor court.' Alison Weir 'I do not live in a corner. A thousand eyes see all I do.' Elizabeth I The Tudor monarchs were constantly surrounded by an army of attendants, courtiers and ministers. Even in their most private moments, they were accompanied by a servant specifically appointed for the task. A groom of the stool would stand patiently by as Henry VIII performed his daily purges, and when Elizabeth I retired for the evening, one of her female servants would sleep at the end of her bed. These attendants knew the truth behind the glamorous exterior. They saw the tears shed by Henry VII upon the death of his son Arthur. They knew the tragic secret behind 'Bloody' Mary's phantom pregnancies. And they saw the 'crooked carcass' beneath Elizabeth I's carefully applied makeup, gowns and accessories. It is the accounts of these eyewitnesses, as well as a rich array of other contemporary sources that historian Tracy Borman has examined more closely than ever before. With new insights and discoveries, and in the same way that she brilliantly illuminated the real Thomas Cromwell - The Private Life of the Tudors will reveal previously unexamined details about the characters we think we know so well.

Book The Electricity of Every Living Thing

Download or read book The Electricity of Every Living Thing written by Katherine May and published by Melville House. This book was released on 2021-10-26 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New York Times bestselling author of Wintering writes a life-affirming exploration of wild landscapes, what it means to be different and, above all, how we can all learn to make peace with our own unquiet minds . . . In anticipation of her 38th birthday, Katherine May set out to walk the 630-mile South West Coast Path. She wanted time alone, in nature, to understand why she had stopped coping with everyday life; why motherhood had been so overwhelming and isolating; and why the world felt full of expectations she couldn't meet. She was also reeling from a chance encounter with a voice on the radio that sparked her realisation that she might be autistic. And so begins a trek along the ruggedly beautiful but difficult path by the sea that takes readers through the alternatingly frustrating, funny, and enlightening experience of re-awakening to the world around us… The Electricity of Every Living Thing sees Katherine come to terms with that diagnosis leading her to re-evaluate her life so far — with a much kinder, more forgiving eye. We bear witness to a new understanding that finally allows her to be different rather than simply awkward, arrogant or unfeeling. The physical and psychological journeys of this joyous and inspiring book become inextricably entwined, and as Katherine finds her way across the untameable coast, we learn alongside her how to find our way back to our own true selves.
