When her pleas fall on deaf ears, she loses her temper and then her badge. Armed with only her cunning and her famed Inazuma blade, Mariko must work outside the system to stop the terrorist. Book The Gospel of the Beloved Disciple

Download or read book The Gospel of the Beloved Disciple written by Herman C. Waetjen and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2014-05-22 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a general consensus that the Fourth Gospel underwent two editions. But in contrast to all previous efforts to reconstruct these two editions on the basis of source and redaction criticism, Waetjen maintains that these two editions essentially overlap without far-reaching changes. Chapter 1-20 originated within the Jewish community of Alexandria and were addressed to Jews in order to persuade them to "believe into" Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God. The second edition originated when chapter 21 as added and certain revisions were made in chapters 1-20 by an editor in the Christian community of Ephesus in order to present the Gospel to Gentile Christians and perhaps attendantly to legitimate it for canonization. Waetjen examines John's gospel by engaging in a close reading of various units of the Gospel from the perspective of a two-level drama that presents two narrative worlds within the literary structure of the Gospel. Out of his readings of the texts, one of the major and provocative conclusions Waetjen draws is that Lazarus is the Beloved Disciple of Jesus in chapters 1-20. John, the son of Zebedee, is intimated to play the role of the Beloved Disciple not only in chapter 21, but throughout the Gospel. In other words, the editor of chapter 21 has concluded that John (based on the title that the gospel already bears), is the Beloved Disciple and project that backwards from chapter 21 throughout the previous 20 chapters. Waetjen's thorough scholarship and his attention to detail in his original readings challenge traditional readings of John's Gospel, providing fresh insights into the Gospel.

Download or read book Learning To Be A Disciple written by Luella Campbell and published by Book Venture Publishing LLC. This book was released on 2017-08-04 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discipleship and sonship are intimately connected Jesus was a Son to His Father and a rabbi to His disciples. His goal was to teach His disciples how to be sons by introducing them to the Father and calling them to follow Him and imitate Him as God’s beloved Son. They were to be His replicas on earth, training others to follow Him. Jesus was a Jew, born and raised in the Jewish language and culture of His day. Out of this richness He invited and trained uneducated men to take His yoke, learn from Him and go into the world to set people free from their yokes of bondage. Westernization has obscured the Biblical meaning of discipleship and pawned believers who have lost the truth and simplicity of following Jesus. The church has been fragmented by theology and tradition instead of being united by the Spirit of Jesus. Jesus stripped Judaism of its impositions by taking people back to the Torah and explaining what God meant, not what rabbis imposed on it. This book is an attempt to re-introduce believers to Jesus’s yoke by teaching them to embrace the spirit of Torah, which reflects, not rules or religion but mercy, based on the love of the Father.

This call is meant for every Jesus follower. Each of us is empowered by God to not just be a disciple, a noun, but to disciple others, a verb. Making passionate, effective disciples of Jesus is the God-given, best strategy for bringing the gospel to the world. Making disciples is a messy relational enterprise that is both challenging and costly. Embracing the term disciple as a verb is one of the most important, transformative, and joy-filled things you will do this side of heaven! If you believe these things to be true or are at least intrigued by these statements, I invite you to come explore what it looks like to make disciples of Jesus. If you care deeply about people but struggle to know how to support them in their spiritual growth and journey, this book is for you! I am not offering another program, activity, or curriculum but instead a window into what it means to live a lifestyle of discipleship, of helping others become more like Jesus. Whether you're a teacher, parent, coach, coworker, student, athlete, pastor, small group leader, or friend, we will discuss principles and practical tips for being an agent of spiritual change for those you love. So again, I invite you to come along and discover how to bring radical transformation into the lives of those around you, by the awesome grace of God, the way Jesus did. By the end of this book, it is my sincere prayer that you know what a disciple of Jesus is, why you are called to make them, and how to start this adventure of answering Jesus's Commission to make disciples of all nations!
