Book Direct and Converse Theorems

Download or read book Direct and Converse Theorems written by I. S. Gradshtein and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-16 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Direct and Converse Theorems: The Elements of Symbolic Logic, Third Edition explains the logical relations between direct, converse, inverse, and inverse converse theorems, as well as the concept of necessary and sufficient conditions. This book consists of two chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the question of negation. Connected with the question of the negation of a proposition are interrelations of the direct and converse and also of the direct and inverse theorems; the interrelations of necessary and sufficient conditions; and the definition of the locus of a point. The second chapter explains several questions of mathematical logic–a science that is being developed in connection with the theory of mathematical proof. This edition is provided with a large number of problems and questions to help easily understand the material. The book is intended for students studying mathematics, specifically at intermediate colleges of various types. The text is also a useful reference for university students and teachers.

Book Introduction to the Theory of Weighted Polynomial Approximation

Download or read book Introduction to the Theory of Weighted Polynomial Approximation written by Hrushikesh Narhar Mhaskar and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, we have attempted to explain a variety of different techniques and ideas which have contributed to this subject in its course of successive refinements during the last 25 years. There are other books and surveys reviewing the ideas from the perspective of either potential theory or orthogonal polynomials. The main thrust of this book is to introduce the subject from an approximation theory point of view. Thus, the main motivation is to study analogues of results from classical trigonometric approximation theory, introducing other ideas as needed. It is not our objective to survey the most recent results, but merely to introduce to the readers the thought processes and ideas as they are developed. This book is intended to be self-contained, although the reader is expected to be familiar with rudimentary real and complex analysis. It will also help to have studied elementary trigonometric approximation theory, and have some exposure to orthogonal polynomials.

Book Algebraic Approximation A Guide to Past and Current Solutions

Download or read book Algebraic Approximation A Guide to Past and Current Solutions written by Jorge Bustamante and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-11-15 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains an exposition of several results related with direct and converse theorems in the theory of approximation by algebraic polynomials in a finite interval. In addition, some facts concerning trigonometric approximation that are necessary for motivation and comparisons are included. The selection of papers that are referenced and discussed document some trends in polynomial approximation from the 1950s to the present day.

Book Artificial Neural Networks Formal Models and Their Applications ICANN 2005

Download or read book Artificial Neural Networks Formal Models and Their Applications ICANN 2005 written by Wlodzislaw Duch and published by Springer. This book was released on 2005-08-25 with total page 1051 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is the first part of the two-volume proceedings of the International C- ference on Artificial Neural Networks (ICANN 2005), held on September 11–15, 2005 in Warsaw, Poland, with several accompanying workshops held on September 15, 2005 at the Nicolaus Copernicus University, Toru , Poland. The ICANN conference is an annual meeting organized by the European Neural Network Society in cooperation with the International Neural Network Society, the Japanese Neural Network Society, and the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society. It is the premier European event covering all topics concerned with neural networks and related areas. The ICANN series of conferences was initiated in 1991 and soon became the major European gathering for experts in those fields. In 2005 the ICANN conference was organized by the Systems Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland, and the Nicolaus Copernicus Univ- sity, Toru , Poland. From over 600 papers submitted to the regular sessions and some 10 special c- ference sessions, the International Program Committee selected – after a thorough peer-review process – about 270 papers for publication. The large number of papers accepted is certainly a proof of the vitality and attractiveness of the field of artificial neural networks, but it also shows a strong interest in the ICANN conferences.

Book Quantum Information Theory

Download or read book Quantum Information Theory written by Mark M. Wilde and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-04-18 with total page 673 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finally, here is a modern, self-contained text on quantum information theory suitable for graduate-level courses. Developing the subject 'from the ground up' it covers classical results as well as major advances of the past decade. Beginning with an extensive overview of classical information theory suitable for the non-expert, the author then turns his attention to quantum mechanics for quantum information theory, and the important protocols of teleportation, super-dense coding and entanglement distribution. He develops all of the tools necessary for understanding important results in quantum information theory, including capacity theorems for classical, entanglement-assisted, private and quantum communication. The book also covers important recent developments such as superadditivity of private, coherent and Holevo information, and the superactivation of quantum capacity. This book will be warmly welcomed by the upcoming generation of quantum information theorists and the already established community of classical information theorists.
