Book Classical Function Theory Operator Dilation Theory and Machine Computation on Multiply Connected Domains

Download or read book Classical Function Theory Operator Dilation Theory and Machine Computation on Multiply Connected Domains written by Jim Agler and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2008 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work begins with the presentation of generalizations of the classical Herglotz Representation Theorem for holomorphic functions with positive real part on the unit disc to functions with positive real part defined on multiply-connected domains. The generalized Herglotz kernels that appear in these representation theorems are then exploited to evolve new conditions for spectral set and rational dilation conditions over multiply-connected domains. These conditions form the basis for the theoretical development of a computational procedure for probing a well-known unsolved problem in operator theory, the so called rational dilation conjecture. Arbitrary precision algorithms for computing the Herglotz kernels on circled domains are presented and analyzed. These algorithms permit an effective implementation of the computational procedure which results in a machine generated counterexample to the rational dilation conjecture.

Book Quantum Systems under Gravitational Time Dilation

Download or read book Quantum Systems under Gravitational Time Dilation written by Magdalena Zych and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-02-06 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis introduces a new theoretical tool to explore the notion of time and temporal order in quantum mechanics: the relativistic quantum "clock" framework. It proposes novel thought experiments showing that proper time can display quantum features, e.g. when a “clock” runs different proper times in superposition. The resulting new physical effects can be tested in near-future laboratory experiments (with atoms, molecules and photons as "clocks"). The notion of time holds the key to the regime where quantum theory and general relativity overlap, which has not been directly tested yet and remains largely unexplored by the theory. The framework also applies to scenarios in which causal relations between events become non-classical and which were previously considered impossible to address without refuting quantum theory. The relativistic quantum "clock" framework offers new insights into the foundations of quantum theory and general relativity.

Book Dual Algebras with Applications to Invariant Subspaces and Dilation Theory

Download or read book Dual Algebras with Applications to Invariant Subspaces and Dilation Theory written by Hari Bercovici and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1985 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of dual algebras has made tremendous progress since 1978, when Scott Brown originated some of the main ideas to solve the invariant subspace problem for subnormal operators. This book presents ideas concerning the solution of systems of simultaneous equations in the predual of a dual algebra, thereby developing a dilation theory.

Book Operator Valued Measures Dilations and the Theory of Frames

Download or read book Operator Valued Measures Dilations and the Theory of Frames written by Deguang Han and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2014-04-07 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors develop elements of a general dilation theory for operator-valued measures. Hilbert space operator-valued measures are closely related to bounded linear maps on abelian von Neumann algebras, and some of their results include new dilation results for bounded linear maps that are not necessarily completely bounded, and from domain algebras that are not necessarily abelian. In the non-cb case the dilation space often needs to be a Banach space. They give applications to both the discrete and the continuous frame theory. There are natural associations between the theory of frames (including continuous frames and framings), the theory of operator-valued measures on sigma-algebras of sets, and the theory of continuous linear maps between -algebras. In this connection frame theory itself is identified with the special case in which the domain algebra for the maps is an abelian von Neumann algebra and the map is normal (i.e. ultraweakly, or weakly, or w*) continuous.

Book Characterization and Clinical Management of Dilated Cardiomyopathy

Download or read book Characterization and Clinical Management of Dilated Cardiomyopathy written by Marco Merlo and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a particular phenotype of non-ischemic systolic heart failure, frequently recognizing a genetic background and affecting relatively young patients with few comorbidities. Nowadays, long-term survival of DCM patients has been markedly improved due to an early diagnosis and uninterrupted and tailored follow-up under constant optimal medical and non-pharmacological evidence-based treatments. Nevertheless, DCM is still one of the most common causes of heart transplantation in the western world. Clinical management requires an integrated and systematic use of diagnostic tools and a deeper investigation of the basic mechanisms underlying the disease. However, several emerging issues remain debated. Specifically, the genotype–phenotype correlation, the role of advanced imaging techniques and genetic testing, the lack of appropriate risk stratification models, the need for a multiparametric and multidisciplinary approach for device implantation, and a continuous reclassification of the disease during follow-up remain challenging issues in clinical practice. Therefore, the aim of this Special Issue is to shed the light on the most recent advancements in characterization and clinical management of DCM in order to unveil the conundrum of this particular disease.

Book excerpt: This open access book presents a comprehensive overview of dilated cardiomyopathy, providing readers with practical guidelines for its clinical management. The first part of the book analyzes in detail the disease’s pathophysiology, its diagnostic work up as well as the prognostic stratification, and illustrates the role of genetics and gene-environment interaction. The second part presents current and future treatment options, highlighting the importance of long-term and individualized treatments and follow-up. Furthermore, it discusses open issues, such as the apparent healing phenomenon, the early prognosis of arrhythmic events or the use of genetic testing in clinical practice. Offering a multidisciplinary approach for optimizing the clinical management of DCM, this book is an invaluable aid not only for the clinical cardiologists, but for all physicians involved in the care of this challenging disease.

Book Dilations Linear Matrix Inequalities the Matrix Cube Problem and Beta Distributions

Download or read book Dilations Linear Matrix Inequalities the Matrix Cube Problem and Beta Distributions written by J. William Helton and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2019-02-21 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An operator C on a Hilbert space H dilates to an operator T on a Hilbert space K if there is an isometry V:H→K such that C=V∗TV. A main result of this paper is, for a positive integer d, the simultaneous dilation, up to a sharp factor ϑ(d), expressed as a ratio of Γ functions for d even, of all d×d symmetric matrices of operator norm at most one to a collection of commuting self-adjoint contraction operators on a Hilbert space.

Book Schur Parameters Factorization and Dilation Problems

Download or read book Schur Parameters Factorization and Dilation Problems written by Tiberiu Constantinescu and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the ubiquity of the Schur parameters. A dilation theoretic view leads to a unified perspective on several topics where Schur parameters appear as basic cells. Together with the transmission line, their physical counter- part, they appear in scattering theory, in modeling, prediction and filtering of nonstationary processes, in signal processing, geophysics and system theory. Modeling problems are considered for certain classes of operators, interpolation problems, determinental formulae, as well as connections with certain classes of graphs where, again, the Schur parameters could play a role. Some general algorithms that explore the transmission line are also presented in this book. As a whole, the text is self-contained and it is addressed to people interested in the previously mentioned topics or connections between them.
