Book Digital Filter Implementation Using RNS binary Arithmetic

Download or read book Digital Filter Implementation Using RNS binary Arithmetic written by Negovan Stamenkovic and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014-02 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Residue Number System (RNS), which originates from the Chinese Remainder Theorem, offers a promising future in VLSI because of its carry-free operations in addition, subtraction and multiplication. This property of RNS is very helpful to reduce the complexity of calculation in many applications. A residue number system represents a large integer using a set of smaller integers, called residues. Cost and speed not only depend on this word length, but also the selection of moduli, which is a crucial step for residue system. This parameter determines bit efficiency, area, frequency etc. In this book the special moduli set is used to construct a residue system for digital signal processing environment. Subsequently, it is theoretically proved and illustrated using examples, that the proposed design of recursive and nonrecursive filter design gives results which can be implemented in other fields where high speed computations are required.

The text includes contributions from noted researchers on a wide range of topics, including a review of circuits used in implementing basic operations like additions and multiplications; distributed arithmetic as a technique for the multiplier-less implementation of inner products for DSP applications; discussions on look up table-based techniques and their key applications; CORDIC circuits for calculation of trigonometric, hyperbolic and logarithmic functions; real and complex multiplications, division, and square-root; solution of linear systems; eigenvalue estimation; singular value decomposition; QR factorization and many other functions through the use of simple shift-add operations; and much more. This book serves as a comprehensive resource, which describes the arithmetic circuits as fundamental building blocks for state-of-the-art DSP and reviews in - depth the scope of their applications.

Book Computational Number Theory and Digital Signal Processing

Download or read book Computational Number Theory and Digital Signal Processing written by Hari Krishna and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1994-08-16 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Military service involves exposure to multiple sources of chronic, acute, and potentially traumatic stress, especially during deployment and combat. Notoriously variable, the effects of stress can be subtle to severe, immediate or delayed, impairing individual and group readiness, operational performance, and—ultimately—survival. A comprehensive compilation on the state of the science, Biobehavioral Resilience to Stress identifies key factors and characteristics that are essential to a scientifically useful and behaviorally predictive understanding of resilience to stress. Contributions from Uniquely Qualified Military and Civilian Experts Initiated by the Military Operational Medicine Research Directorate of the US Army Medical Research and Material Command (USAMRMC), this seminal volume integrates recent research and experience from military and civilian experts in behavioral and social sciences, human performance, and physiology. Each chapter is grounded in vigorous research with emphasis on relevance to a variety of real-world operations and settings, including extreme environments encountered in modern war. Logical Progression, Cross-Disciplinary Appeal Organized into four sections, the text begins with a discussion of the relevant aspects of stress in the context of military life to offer civilian readers a window into contemporary military priorities. Later chapters consider biological, physiological, and genetic factors, psychosocial aspects of resilience, and “community capacity” variables that influence psychological responses to stressful events. This multidisciplinary effort concludes with an overview of emergent themes and related issues to advance the science of resilience toward predictive research, theory, and application for all those—military and civilian—who serve in the national defense.

Book Influences of Hardware Implementation on a High Speed Digital Adaptive Filter Using the Residue Number System

Download or read book Influences of Hardware Implementation on a High Speed Digital Adaptive Filter Using the Residue Number System written by Kimberly Dee Weinmann and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study of the performance and certain characteristics of an eight-weight adaptive FIR digital filter implementing the LMS algorithm using Residue Number System (SRNS) arithmetic hardware has been done in order to draw conclusions as to the optimum hardware configuration. Affects of the hardware and unknown system on the rate of convergence and adaptive algorithm step size were found by running filter simulations for different values of the systems quantities. It was found that characteristics of the unknown system (or plant) do not affect the choice of filter hardware. (Author).

Book Residue Number Systems

Download or read book Residue Number Systems written by Amos R. Omondi and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Residue number systems (RNSs) and arithmetic are useful for several reasons. First, a great deal of computing now takes place in embedded processors, such as those found in mobile devices, for which high speed and low-power consumption are critical; the absence of carry propagation facilitates the realization of high-speed, low-power arithmetic. Second, computer chips are now getting to be so dense that full testing will no longer be possible; so fault tolerance and the general area of computational integrity have become more important. RNSs are extremely good for applications such as digital signal processing, communications engineering, computer security (cryptography), image processing, speech processing, and transforms, all of which are extremely important in computing today. This book provides an up-to-date account of RNSs and arithmetic. It covers the underlying mathematical concepts of RNSs; the conversion between conventional number systems and RNSs; the implementation of arithmetic operations; various related applications are also introduced. In addition, numerous detailed examples and analysis of different implementations are provided.
