Download or read book Digestive System Metabolism written by Dr. Tommy Mitchell and published by New Leaf Publishing Group. This book was released on 2018-08-02 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fourth volume of the Wonders of the Human Body series dives deep into why our bodies need energy and how we get it. As with all our explorations into the complexity of the human body, when you see the incredible design of the digestive system, you ultimately have to ask yourself, “Can this all possibly be an accident? Something that happened by chance?” The answer is a resounding, “No!” We are not the product of evolution. We are not animals. We are a special creation. In Digestive System & Metabolism, you will learn about: The digestive system—including the teeth and tongue, the mouth and esophagus, the stomach and intestines, the liver, the gallbladder, and the pancreasOur metabolism—a complex system created by God to transform food into fuel for our energy God our Designer thought of everything, even the problems that would occur in a sin-cursed world. We are indeed wonderfully made. Prepare to be amazed!

Book Fundamentals of Animal Nutrition

Download or read book Fundamentals of Animal Nutrition written by Subodh Kumar Saha and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-05-11 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book provides comprehensive information about the different aspects of veterinary nutrition in tropical countries. The introductory chapter discuss the importance of nutrition, feeds and feeding of balanced and optimum feeds specifically required for the sustenance of life. The second chapter, discusses briefly the history of research in animal nutrition. The book further talks about the relationship between the environment and nutrition in animals; the chemical composition of plants and animals; and the various sources of feed for animals. It provides details on the different phases of life cycle in animals, and the effect of nutrition on the performance. Various Nutrients and its importance in livestock nutritionand production has been illustrated in details. Various nutrients such as water, carbohydrate, protein, fats, vitamins, minerals etc are individually dealt in a separate chapter. The digestive system, digestion and metabolism of carbohydrates, protein and fats in ruminant and non ruminant livestock have been illustrated. A dedicated chapter fully describes the activity of enzymes which are directly involved in nutrition. Also this book deals with the harmful components of animal feed which are found mainly in the unconventional feeds. The books also provide chapters like partitioning of feed& energy and also the therapeutic and clinical nutrition which are very importantfor the under graduate & post graduate students and researchers of animal nutrition and livestock production and management. This book is useful for researchers, undergraduate and post graduate students studying veterinary sciences, animal husbandry, zoology and biochemistry.

Book Nutrition Digestion Metabolism

Download or read book Nutrition Digestion Metabolism written by T. Gáti and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Physiological Sciences, Volume 12: Nutrition, Digestion, Metabolism covers the proceedings of the 28th International Congress of Physiological Sciences, held in Budapest in 1980, which mainly focuses on human nutrition, digestion, and metabolism. This compilation is divided into eight parts. This text first gives an introduction to vitamins and trace elements, including its role, effects, and influences on human biological processes. This book then explains the role of cyclic nucleotides in stimulus—secretion coupling of exocrine glands and the physiological components of the gastric mucosal barrier, along with their role in mucosal defense. Motility in control of gastric emptying; intestinal polypeptides and peptidergic nerves; and molecular changes during metabolic processes of gastrointestinal peptide hormones are also tackled. This text also introduces the factors involved in the integrated mechanism of intestinal absorption. This book concludes by explaining the lipoprotein metabolism, apolipoproteins, and lipid constituents. This publication will be invaluable to those in the field of physiological sciences interested specifically in studying human nutrition, digestion, and metabolism.

Book Digestive Physiology and Metabolism in Ruminants

Download or read book Digestive Physiology and Metabolism in Ruminants written by Y. Ruckebusch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 856 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two questions could not be avoided in the avant-propos of this book; (i) what is the importance to man of ruminant livestock, and (ii) what results of practical relevance in the growing mountain of scientific verbiage could be found in the Proceedings of this Symposium. Herbivores are an integral and critical part of the natural ecosystem which must be preserved because of their impact on human welfare. Wh at makes ruminants especially important to man is that they can thrive on fibrous forage and are thus the only viable enterprise over much of the earth's surface where crop growing is impracti cable. They contribute a wide array of products in addition to 50000 000 tonnes ofmeat (1977) and represent a 'capital reserve' that can be drawn upon in times of emergency: milk for example (450000000 tonnes) can make the difference between subsistence and starvation. About 60% of the world's meat and 80 % of the milk are produced by one third of the world ruminant population in the developed regions and as much as 99 % of the power for agriculture is provided by the ruminant population in developing countries. For the next two decades, a probable increase by 30 % for . cattle and buffalo and more than 40 % for sheep and goats is expected by improving health, fertility, nutrition and genetic potential rather than feed resources.

Book Protein Metabolism in Farm Animals

Download or read book Protein Metabolism in Farm Animals written by Hans-Dietrich Bock and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1989 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Farm animals are grown mainly to provide high quality proteins for human use, in the form of meat, milk, eggs, skin and wool. These products are usually formed from lower-quality proteins in complex processes that involve losses through digestion, absorption, and transport. Because proteins are the most expensive major component of the animal diet per unit of weight, the efficiency with which they are used is of great importance biologically and economically. This book begins with a description of the dietary proteins and methods for their measurement. This is followed by detailed accounts of their digestion in ruminants, pigs, poultry and fish. The physiological basis of adsorption of amino acids is discussed in detail. This is followed by reviews of the processes of protein synthesis and degradation and the hormonal and energetic regulation of these processes. Written by a group of experienced scientists, this is the first book in which all of these topics are discussed in detail at a fundamental level. For advanced students and research workers in animal science and agriculture.
