Book Comprehensive Materials Finishing

Download or read book Comprehensive Materials Finishing written by M.S.J. Hashmi and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-08-29 with total page 1467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finish Manufacturing Processes are those final stage processing techniques which are deployed to bring a product to readiness for marketing and putting in service. Over recent decades a number of finish manufacturing processes have been newly developed by researchers and technologists. Many of these developments have been reported and illustrated in existing literature in a piecemeal manner or in relation only to specific applications. For the first time, Comprehensive Materials Finishing, Three Volume Set integrates a wide body of this knowledge and understanding into a single, comprehensive work. Containing a mixture of review articles, case studies and research findings resulting from R & D activities in industrial and academic domains, this reference work focuses on how some finish manufacturing processes are advantageous for a broad range of technologies. These include applicability, energy and technological costs as well as practicability of implementation. The work covers a wide range of materials such as ferrous, non-ferrous and polymeric materials. There are three main distinct types of finishing processes: Surface Treatment by which the properties of the material are modified without generally changing the physical dimensions of the surface; Finish Machining Processes by which a small layer of material is removed from the surface by various machining processes to render improved surface characteristics; and Surface Coating Processes by which the surface properties are improved by adding fine layer(s) of materials with superior surface characteristics. Each of these primary finishing processes is presented in its own volume for ease of use, making Comprehensive Materials Finishing an essential reference source for researchers and professionals at all career stages in academia and industry. Provides an interdisciplinary focus, allowing readers to become familiar with the broad range of uses for materials finishing Brings together all known research in materials finishing in a single reference for the first time Includes case studies that illustrate theory and show how it is applied in practice

Book Diffusionless Phase Transitions in Oxides

Download or read book Diffusionless Phase Transitions in Oxides written by C. Boulesteix and published by Trans Tech Publications Ltd. This book was released on 1995-03-21 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relative importance of oxides in the field of materials is increasing every year, all over the world. The new or renewed basic and technological interest of ferroelectrics, ferroelastics, piezoelectrics, modulated structures and high-Tc superconductors provides excellent and well-know examples for the growing attention attracted by this class of materials. Most of the properties of these compounds are related to a phase transition phenomenon, so that phase transitions in oxides are today of the largest interest.

Book Theory of Phase Transitions

Download or read book Theory of Phase Transitions written by Ya. G. Sinai and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-20 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory of Phase Transitions: Rigorous Results is inspired by lectures on mathematical problems of statistical physics presented in the Mathematical Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest. The aim of the book is to expound a series of rigorous results about the theory of phase transitions. The book consists of four chapters, wherein the first chapter discusses the Hamiltonian, its symmetry group, and the limit Gibbs distributions corresponding to a given Hamiltonian. The second chapter studies the phase diagrams of lattice models that are considered at low temperatures. The notions of a ground state of a Hamiltonian and the stability of the set of the ground states of a Hamiltonian are also introduced. Chapter 3 presents the basic theorems about lattice models with continuous symmetry, and Chapter 4 focuses on the second-order phase transitions and on the theory of scaling probability distributions, connected to these phase transitions. Specialists in statistical physics and other related fields will greatly benefit from this publication.

Book Ni free Ti based Shape Memory Alloys

Download or read book Ni free Ti based Shape Memory Alloys written by Hee Young Kim and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2018-09-17 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ni-free Ti-based Shape Memory Alloys reviews the fundamental issues of biomedical beta-type Ti base shape memory and superelastic alloys, including martensitic transformation, shape memory and superelastic properties, alloy development, thermomechanical treatment and microstructure control, and biocompatibility. Some unique properties, such as large nonlinear elastic behavior and low Young’s modulus, observed in metastable Ti alloys are discussed on the basis of phase stability. As it is expected that superelastic Ti alloys will further expand the applications of shape memory alloys within the biomedical field, this book provides a comprehensive review of these new findings in Ti-base shape memory and superelastic alloys. Includes coverage of phase transformations in titanium alloys Discusses mechanical properties and alloy development Presents a review of Ti-based shape alloys and their applications
