Book Diffusion in Solid Metals and Alloys Diffusion in festen Metallen und Legierungen

Download or read book Diffusion in Solid Metals and Alloys Diffusion in festen Metallen und Legierungen written by H. Bakker and published by Springer. This book was released on 1990-12-19 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interest in diffusion in solids is as old as physical metallurgy or materials science. It stems from application-oriented as well as from scientific reasons. First, a knowledge of diffusion is basic to an understanding of many microstructural changes that occur in solid matter at elevated temperatures. For processes like phase transformations, precipitation or dissolution of a second phase, recrystallization, oxidation, creep, annealing etc., solid state diffusion is fundamental and ubiquitous. The second reason for studying diffusion is to learn more about how atoms move in solid matter. Volume III/26 presents for the first time a comprehensive collection of diffusion data for solid metals and alloys. The critical compilation of data has resulted in tables and series of diagrams which show in 13 chapters data for the following properties: Self- and impurity-diffusion in metallic elements, self-diffusion in homogeneous binary alloys, chemical diffusion in binary and ternary alloys, diffusion in amorphous alloys, diffusion of interstitial foreign atoms like hydrogen, carbon, oxygen and nitrogen in metallic elements, mass and pressure dependence of diffusion, diffusion along dislocations, grain and interphase boundary diffusion, and diffusion on surfaces.

Book Hydrogen Movement in Steel

Download or read book Hydrogen Movement in Steel written by Ellis E. Fletcher and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report discusses the ways in which H2 enters steels, how it moves through steel, and methods whereby it may be removed from steel. The solubility of H2 is important in understanding other aspects of the behavior of H2 in steel and such aspects of solubility as preferred lattice sites, lattice expansion, measurements of solubility, and estimates of equilibrium H2 pressure in steel are discussed. The permeation of H2 through steel consisting of interactions at both the entry and exit surfaces of the metal as well as diffusion through the bulk metal is discussed. The various possibilities of H2 entry by corrosion processes, electrochemical processes, and other means are considered as well as factors which influence the rate of H2 removal from iron and steel. Book Springer Handbook of Condensed Matter and Materials Data

Download or read book Springer Handbook of Condensed Matter and Materials Data written by Werner Martienssen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-09-21 with total page 1143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Springer Handbook of Condensed Matter and Materials Data provides a concise compilation of data and functional relationships from the fields of solid-state physics and materials in this 1200 page volume. The data, encapsulated in 914 tables and 1025 illustrations, have been selected and extracted primarily from the extensive high-quality data collection Landolt-Börnstein and also from other systematic data sources and recent publications of physical and technical property data. Many chapters are authored by Landolt-Börnstein editors, including the prominent Springer Handbook editors, W. Martienssen and H. Warlimont themselves. The Handbook is designed to be useful as a desktop reference for fast and easy retrieval of essential and reliable data in the lab or office. References to more extensive data sources are also provided in the book and by interlinking to the relevant sources on the enclosed CD-ROM. Physicists, chemists and engineers engaged in fields of solid-state sciences and materials technologies in research, development and application will appreciate the ready access to the key information coherently organized within this wide-ranging Handbook. From the reviews: "...this is the most complete compilation I have ever seen... When I received the book, I immediately searched for data I never found elsewhere..., and I found them rapidly... No doubt that this book will soon be in every library and on the desk of most solid state scientists and engineers. It will never be at rest." -Physicalia Magazine

Book Elektrische Leitungsph nomene I Electrical Conductivity I

Download or read book Elektrische Leitungsph nomene I Electrical Conductivity I written by S. Flügge and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1956-01-02 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 191 Apart from numerous difficulties arising from the high pressure technique as such, there is a natural limitation to the possibility of applying a hydrostatic pressure, since liquids under pressure will solidify above a certain pressure limit. 8 2 Up to pressures of 3 X 10 kg.jm. at room temperature, a liquid like isopentane can be used. For higher pressures helium gas may be used, perhaps to about 9 2 10 kg.jm. , but BRIDGMAN already encountered enormous leakage difficulties 7 when using this gas at 7.10 kg.jm.2 at 90° K. A solution has been found by applying mechanical pressure for the range 8 9 2 between 3 X 10 and 10 kg.jm. , by using silver chloride as transmittant. In this case, however, one has to apply unknown corrections for shearing stress and deformation of the sample, a problem which BRIDGMAN solved experimentally by a determination of the resistivity in the pressure region between 2 and 8 2 5 X 10 kg.jm. , by the hydrostatic and by the mechanical pressure method as well, and applying the correction factor thus determined to the results obtained at higher pressures. Though this method seems to be right in good approximation, the data for the highest pressures are to be considered as less accurate.
