Book Differential Forms Orthogonal to Holomorphic Functions or Forms and Their Properties

Download or read book Differential Forms Orthogonal to Holomorphic Functions or Forms and Their Properties written by L a Aizenberg and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2000-04-30 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors consider the problem of characterizing the exterior differential forms which are orthogonal to holomorphic functions (or forms) in a domain $D\subset {\mathbf C}^n$ with respect to integration over the boundary, and some related questions. They give a detailed account of the derivation of the Bochner-Martinelli-Koppelman integral representation of exterior differential forms, which was obtained in 1967 and has already found many important applications. They study the properties of $\overline \partial$-closed forms of type $(p, n - 1), 0\leq p\leq n - 1$, which turn out to be the duals (with respect to the orthogonality mentioned above) to holomorphic functions (or forms) in several complex variables, and resemble holomorphic functions of one complex variable in their properties.

Book Typical Singularities of Differential 1 forms and Pfaffian Equations

Download or read book Typical Singularities of Differential 1 forms and Pfaffian Equations written by Mikhail Zhitomirskiĭ and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1992 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Singularities and the classification of 1-forms and Pfaffian equations are interesting not only as classical problems, but also because of their applications in contact geometry, partial differential equations, control theory, nonholonomic dynamics, and variational problems. In addition to collecting results on the geometry of singularities and classification of differential forms and Pfaffian equations, this monograph discusses applications and closely related classification problems. Zhitomirskii presents proofs with all results and ends each chapter with a summary of the main results, a tabulation of the singularities, and a list of the normal forms. The main results of the book are also collected together in the introduction.

Book Theory of Entire and Meromorphic Functions

Download or read book Theory of Entire and Meromorphic Functions written by Guan-hou Zhang and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1993-01-01 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was originally written in Chinese in 1986 by the noted complex analyst Zhang Guan-Hou, who was a research fellow at the Academia Sinica. The book provides a basic introduction to the development of the theory of entire and meromorphic functions from the 1950s to the early 1980s. After an opening chapter introducing fundamentals of Nevanlinna's value distribution theory, this book discusses various relationships among and developments of three central concepts: deficient value, asymptotic value, and singular direction. This book describes many significant results and research directions developed by Zhang and other Chinese complex analysts and published in Chinese mathematical journals. A comprehensive and self-contained reference, this book is useful for graduate students and researchers in complex analysis.

Book Multidimensional Integral Representations

Download or read book Multidimensional Integral Representations written by Alexander M. Kytmanov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-09-09 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The monograph is devoted to integral representations for holomorphic functions in several complex variables, such as Bochner-Martinelli, Cauchy-Fantappiè, Koppelman, multidimensional logarithmic residue etc., and their boundary properties. The applications considered are problems of analytic continuation of functions from the boundary of a bounded domain in C^n. In contrast to the well-known Hartogs-Bochner theorem, this book investigates functions with the one-dimensional property of holomorphic extension along complex lines, and includes the problems of receiving multidimensional boundary analogs of the Morera theorem. This book is a valuable resource for specialists in complex analysis, theoretical physics, as well as graduate and postgraduate students with an understanding of standard university courses in complex, real and functional analysis, as well as algebra and geometry.

Book Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations

Download or read book Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations written by Zhifen Zhang and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1992 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Subriemannian geometries, also known as Carnot-Caratheodory geometries, can be viewed as limits of Riemannian geometries. They also arise in physical phenomenon involving ``geometric phases'' or holonomy. Very roughly speaking, a subriemannian geometry consists of a manifold endowed with a distribution (meaning a $k$-plane field, or subbundle of the tangent bundle), called horizontal together with an inner product on that distribution. If $k=n$, the dimension of the manifold, we get the usual Riemannian geometry. Given a subriemannian geometry, we can define the distance between two points just as in the Riemannian case, except we are only allowed to travel along the horizontal lines between two points. The book is devoted to the study of subriemannian geometries, their geodesics, and their applications. It starts with the simplest nontrivial example of a subriemannian geometry: the two-dimensional isoperimetric problem reformulated as a problem of finding subriemannian geodesics. Among topics discussed in other chapters of the first part of the book the author mentions an elementary exposition of Gromov's surprising idea to use subriemannian geometry for proving a theorem in discrete group theory and Cartan's method of equivalence applied to the problem of understanding invariants (diffeomorphism types) of distributions. There is also a chapter devoted to open problems. The second part of the book is devoted to applications of subriemannian geometry. In particular, the author describes in detail the following four physical problems: Berry's phase in quantum mechanics, the problem of a falling cat righting herself, that of a microorganism swimming, and a phase problem arising in the $N$-body problem. He shows that all these problems can be studied using the same underlying type of subriemannian geometry: that of a principal bundle endowed with $G$-invariant metrics. Reading the book requires introductory knowledge of differential geometry, and it can serve as a good introduction to this new, exciting area of mathematics. This book provides an introduction to and a comprehensive study of the qualitative theory of ordinary differential equations. It begins with fundamental theorems on existence, uniqueness, and initial conditions, and discusses basic principles in dynamical systems and Poincare-Bendixson theory. The authors present a careful analysis of solutions near critical points of linear and nonlinear planar systems and discuss indices of planar critical points. A very thorough study of limit cycles is given, including many results on quadratic systems and recent developments in China. Other topics included are: the critical point at infinity, harmonic solutions for periodic differential equations, systems of ordinary differential equations on the torus, and structural stability for systems on two-dimensional manifolds. This books is accessible to graduate students and advanced undergraduates and is also of interest to researchers in this area. Exercises are included at the end of each chapter.

Book Nonlinear Poisson Brackets

    Book Details:
  • Author : Mihail Vladimirovi_ Karasev

Download or read book Nonlinear Poisson Brackets written by Mihail Vladimirovi_ Karasev and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2012-06-06 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with two old mathematical problems. The first is the problem of constructing an analog of a Lie group for general nonlinear Poisson brackets. The second is the quantization problem for such brackets in the semiclassical approximation (which is the problem of exact quantization for the simplest classes of brackets). These problems are progressively coming to the fore in the modern theory of differential equations and quantum theory, since the approach based on constructions of algebras and Lie groups seems, in a certain sense, to be exhausted. The authors' main goal is to describe in detail the new objects that appear in the solution of these problems. Many ideas of algebra, modern differential geometry, algebraic topology, and operator theory are synthesized here. The authors prove all statements in detail, thus making the book accessible to graduate students.

Book Gaussian Processes

    Book Details:

  • ISBN : 9780821887639
  • Pages : 208 pages

Download or read book Gaussian Processes written by Takeyuki Hida and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aimed at students and researchers in mathematics, communications engineering, and economics, this book describes the probabilistic structure of a Gaussian process in terms of its canonical representation (or its innovation process). Multiple Markov properties of a Gaussian process and equivalence problems of Gaussian processes are clearly presented. The authors' approach is unique, involving causality in time evolution and information-theoretic aspects. Because the book is self-contained and only requires background in the fundamentals of probability theory and measure theory, it would be suitable as a textbook at the senior undergraduate or graduate level.

Book Introduction to the General Theory of Singular Perturbations

Download or read book Introduction to the General Theory of Singular Perturbations written by S. A. Lomov and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is aimed at researchers and students in physics, mathematics, and engineering. It contains the first systematic presentation of a general approach to the integration of singularly perturbed differential equations describing nonuniform transitions, such as the occurrence of a boundary layer, discontinuities, boundary effects and so on. The method of regularization of singular perturbations presented here can be applied to the asymptotic integration of systems of ordinary and partial differential equations.

Book Embeddings and Immersions

Download or read book Embeddings and Immersions written by Masahisa Adachi and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1993 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers fundamental techniques in the theory of $C^{\infty}$-imbeddings and $C^{\infty}$-immersions, emphasizing clear intuitive understanding and containing many figures and diagrams. Adachi starts with an introduction to the work of Whitney and of Haefliger on $C^{\infty}$-imbeddings and $C^{\infty}$-manifolds. The Smale-Hirsch theorem is presented as a generalization of the classification of $C^{\infty}$-imbeddings by isotopy and is extended by Gromov's work on the subject, including Gromov's convex integration theory. Finally, as an application of Gromov's work, the author introduces Haefliger's classification theorem of foliations on open manifolds. Also described here is the Adachi's work with Landweber on the integrability of almost complex structures on open manifolds. This book would be an excellent text for upper-division undergraduate or graduate courses.
