Download or read book Abdominal Angiography written by Werner Wenz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The brilliant yet simple idea of introducing a catheter percutaneously into an artery, without first dissecting it free, using a flexible guide wire, has led to a truly revolutionary breakthrough in abdominal x-ray diag nosis (SELDINGER, 1953). In the meantime, methods and techniques for injecting contrast media into various vessels have become largely standardized; innumerable publications have appeared which deal with every conceivable aspect of angiographic technique and interpretation. This volume is designed to present our experience with abdominal angiography. We deliberately refrained from any systematic discussion of the genitourinary tract, which has been adequately dealt with in the literature, also with respect to angiographic findings. Our interest in the retroperitoneal region is based mainly on its significance in differential diagnosis. In ten years of angiographic activity, our Department had made successful use of a simple technique which appears suitable also for smaller hospitals. We wish to point out its diagnostic potential and, at the same time, to outline its limitations. Our experience embraces 2804 abdominal angiograms, which we have classified according to clinical and morphologic anatomical criteria. Their diagnostic interpretation has been compared with the surgical or histopathological results. This may help others to avoid errors of the type which we discovered in our own work. Angiographic diagnosis requires not only familiarity with normal radiographic anatomy, but also specific knowledge of angiographic patho morphology. We have tried to identify those features which typify the individual findings and to derive therefrom valid generalizations with the aid of simple sketches.

Book Applied Cerebral Angiography

Download or read book Applied Cerebral Angiography written by Gianni Boris Bradac and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-07 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers detailed guidance on the diagnostic use of cerebral angiography based on precise description of the angiographic appearances of normal anatomy and pathological conditions. In this third edition, every chapter has been thoroughly revised and enlarged to reflect new knowledge and experiences, and more attention is paid to the correlations between anatomopathological findings and clinical manifestations. Beyond explaining the diagnostic value of cerebral angiography, a key aim is to equip readers with the precise knowledge of the anatomy of cerebral vessels required for optimal application of endovascular therapy of pathologies involving the arteries and veins of the brain. As in preceding editions, the book is divided into two parts. The first part describes the normal anatomy, with attention to morphological aspects, embryological development, function, and vascular territories. The intraorbital and extracranial vascularization is also fully considered. The knowledge provided will serve as a sound basis for the correct interpretation of pathological processes and their clinical significance, as covered in depth in the second part of the book.

Book 3D Contrast MR Angiography

    Book Details:
  • Author : Martin R. Prince
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2013-03-09
  • ISBN : 3662038692
  • Pages : 242 pages

Download or read book 3D Contrast MR Angiography written by Martin R. Prince and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Non-invasive, high resolution contrast arteriography without arte rial catheterization or nephrotoxicity is now possible. It is accomplished by using paramagnetic contrast and an MR scanner. Paramagnetic contrast media is injected intravenously and image data are collected as the con trast circulates through the vascular territory of interest. Due to the strong enhancement effect of paramagnetic contrast media, a small dose injected as an intravenous bolus is sufficient to briefly enhance the entire arterial vascular tree. This allows imaging with a large field-of-view that encompasses an extensive region of vascular anatomy. By using a 3D gradient echo pulse sequence on magnets with high performance gra dient systems, high resolution 3D volumes of image data are acquired in a single breath-hold. This has vastly improved image quality of 3D con trast MRA exams, particularly in the chest and abdomen. Subsequent post-processing allows an angiographic display of image data in any desired obliquity. The success of this technique is reflected by its incorporation into clinical practice in centers throughout the world. It has been applied to multiple vascular territories, using various magnets, and slightly differ ing imaging strategies. As is the ca se for all MR imaging techniques, a thorough understanding of the underlying mechanisms and proper technique are essential to fully exploit the diagnostic potential of this new form of angiography. This book will familiarize the reader with the basic principles of 3D contrast MRA.

Book Transradial Access Techniques for Diagnostic Angiography and Percutaneous Intervention

Download or read book Transradial Access Techniques for Diagnostic Angiography and Percutaneous Intervention written by Howard A Cohen, MD and published by Cardiotext Publishing. This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 3 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transradial Access: Discover the Benefits, Understand the Procedure Transradial Access: Techniques for Diagnostic Angiography and Percutaneous Intervention offers a single source for both novice and experienced interventional cardiologists for safely and effectively performing transradial catheterization procedures. First described in 1989, the transradial approach for coronary angiography and percutaneous interventions has seen a constant and progressive increase around the world as a result of significantly reduced procedural complications, shorter hospital stays, increased patient satisfaction, and lower associated costs compared with the transfemoral approach. Yet despite its apparent benefits, adoption of this technique in the United States has been slow, largely due to the increased technical aspects of entering a smaller artery, accessing the central circulation and engaging the coronary arteries from this approach. In addition, until recently the technique was not routinely taught in the majority of training programs. This book flattens that learning curve by highlighting the technical aspects of transradial diagnostic and interventional procedures, and includes detailed discussion of: Normal vascular anatomy of the hand and arm Indications and contraindications for transradial access procedures Patient and catheter selection Tips and tricks for both beginner and advanced operators Procedural pitfalls and potential complications Techniques are demonstrated in detail using both still images and video. Whether you are an experienced transfemoral operator who wants to refine and expand your technique or a new transradial operator looking to master the technique, this comprehensive text holds the key to mastering this revolutionary procedure.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past few years, the most exciting advances have occured in vascular diagnostics. First of all, well-established techniques like ultrasound have been further refined and developed (intravascular ultrasound). Furthermore, diagnostic investigations could be linked to treatment itself. More and more interventional techniques (the most popular is still percutaneous transluminary angioplasty - PTCA) have been introduced into daily routine. Radiologists and cardiologists are working more and more together, a fact which is reflected by the international group of experts bringing here the knowledge from both fields together for the first time.
