Book A Pali Grammar for Students

Download or read book A Pali Grammar for Students written by Steven Collins and published by Silkworm Books. This book was released on 2006-07-01 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended for modern students, inside or outside the classroom, as a work of reference rather than a ‘teach yourself’ textbook. It presents an introductory sketch of Pali using both European and South Asian grammatical categories. In English language works, Pali is standardly presented in the traditional terms of English grammar, derived from the classical tradition, with which many modern students are unfamiliar. This work discusses and reflects upon those categories, and has an appendix devoted to them. It also introduces the main categories of traditional Sanskrit and Pali grammar, drawing on, in particular, the medieval Pali text Saddaniti, by Aggavamsa. Each grammatical form is illustrated by examples taken from Pali texts, mostly canonical. Although some previous knowledge of Sanskrit would be helpful, the book can also be used by those without previous linguistic training. A bibliographical appendix refers to other, complementary resources.

This book was released on 2005 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indus Kohistani is a major language of the Dardic group of Indo-Aryan languages. It is spoken in North Pakistan along the west bank of the Indus. The Dardic languages are - in the words of the eminent linguist R.L. Turner - linguistically of great interest. They are of crucial importance for our understanding of the early stages of Indo-Aryan (Sanskrit) and of its prehistory. The dictionary contains around 8.000 entries, many of which are supplemented with parallels from other languages (Indo-Aryan, Iranian, Dravidian, etc.), and with information about their origin. The book is presently the most comprehensive dictionary of a Dardic language and a rich source for linguists and South Asian philologists.

Book Actualization of Thought

Download or read book Actualization of Thought written by Chandra Mouli M S and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2019-12-03 with total page 1705 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Making one understand the existing realities at the basic level is an enormous task, and when it comes to the thought process, it appears to be abstract for the common man. For those who are seekers of truth and reality, Actualization of Thought can take them to a different world. Chandra Mouli M S has undertaken the most challenging journey of comparative study of the Vedic science, philosophy and psychology, through the Bruhati Shahasra. There have been several studies trying to bring out the contents of the Vedas in different contexts suitable for the contemporary audience. But so far we have not come across anything that has Vedic science, philosophy and psychology on one platform. This unique, successful effort has been definitely a strenuous, time consuming one of several years. Apart from citing several authorities on the subjects right from Vedic time to contemporary, a proper perspective is projected to realize what happens while actualization of thoughts takes place. One will find physiological and pathological explanation, which enable the neurotransmitters right from Patanalis Yoga Sutras to Dr. Deepak Chopra’s clinical studies. The book will be of great help to future seekers and researchers as there is no alternative substructure material available. - Prasad Parichaya Foundation, Bangalore.
