This book was released on 2001 with total page 772 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This complementary book to ACSM's Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription elaborates on the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) you need to study for any of the American College of Sports Medicine certification exams. It also serves as a valuable professional resource behind the Guidelines. New content includes updated research throughout and a reorganization of the KSAs to correspond with the sixth edition of ACSM's Guidelines. Significantly revised chapters include: Epidemiology of Physical Activity, Physical Fitness, and Selected Chronic Diseases; Diet and Chronic Disease; Medical and Invasive Interventions in the Management of Coronary Artery Disease; Comprehensive Cardiovascular Risk Reduction in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease; Smoking Cessation; Policies and Procedures for Clinical Programs. Both the clinical and health & fitness tracks are covered, in an attractive design that highlights the KSAs for each level of certification. The book features both theoretical and practical physiological concepts and relates the examples to exercise testing, training and programming, thus providing a complete perspective on clinical exercise physiology and fitness. Download or read book Clinical Exercise Testing written by Idelle M. Weisman and published by Karger Medical and Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2002-01-01 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last several years, Clinical Exercise Testing has become an increasingly important tool for patient evaluation in clinical medicine due to a growing awareness of the limitations of traditional resting cardiopulmonary measurements. Emphasizing scientific and technological advances and focusing on clinical applications for patient diagnosis and management, this volume provides a comprehensive interdisciplinary review of clinical exercise testing, concentrating on Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET). 25 reader-friendly chapters discuss important topics, including the physiologic responses to exercise in normal subjects, in the aged and in various disease states; the set-up of an exercise lab; the methodology and protocols used for clinical exercise testing; and an integrative approach to the interpretation of CPET results. CPET in heart failure, deconditioning, COPD, ILD, pulmonary vascular disease, neuromuscular disease, and asthma is thoroughly discussed. Clinical applications including pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation, heart and lung transplantation evaluation, unexplained exertional dyspnea assessment, evaluation for lung resection and lung volume reduction surgery, and impairment-disability evaluation are also covered in detail. Additional chapters on clinical exercise testing in children, during pregnancy and the postpartum, and in other systemic disorders complete this extensive publication. Written by well-respected experts, this volume will be a valuable resource for a wide audience including pulmonologists, cardiologists, pediatricians, exercise physiologists, rehabilitation specialists, nurse clinician specialists, and respiratory therapists.

  • Pages : 609 pages

Download or read book Ellestad s Stress Testing written by Gregory S. Thomas and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2018 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 6th edition of the textbook Ellestad's Stress Testing: Principles and Practice was written for the new and veteran clinician alike performing stress testing. Thoroughly updated, referenced and interspersed with case examples, the book reviews how to get the most out exercise testing, without and with ancillary imaging. In addition to evaluation of ST segment depression, other powerful tools to detect ischemia and forecast the future are reviewed to increase the diagnostic accuracy and prognostic ability of exercise testing. The recognition and significance of exercise induced arrhythmias and conduction defects are examined. When to convert to pharmacologic stress or add ancillary imaging, including myocardial perfusion imaging, echocardiography, coronary calcium scoring, and magnetic reference imaging are reviewed. The use of stress testing in the management of obstructive and non-obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD), heart failure, cardiac rehabilitation, peripheral vascular disease, congenital heart and other cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is examined. Options to optimize the diagnostic capabilities of exercise and other diagnostic testing for women are highlighted. Strategic use of exercise testing in the face of a decreasing burden of CAD in the developed world, as well as the opportunity to rely on exercise testing as the first test to evaluate CVD in the developing world, are reviewed. The fundamentals of exercise physiology and myocardial ischemia that serve as the foundation for exercise testing in health and disease are --

Book Development of New Hybrid Models for Prediction of Maximal Oxygen Uptake VO2max Using Machine Learning Methods Combined with Feature Selection Algorithms

Download or read book Development of New Hybrid Models for Prediction of Maximal Oxygen Uptake VO2max Using Machine Learning Methods Combined with Feature Selection Algorithms written by Fatih Abut and published by . This book was released on 2021-11-20 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2017 in the subject Engineering - Computer Engineering, grade: 100.00/100.00, Çukurova University, language: English, abstract: The purpose of this thesis is twofold. The first purpose is to develop new hybrid feature selection-based maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) prediction models using for the first time the double and triple combinations of maximal, submaximal and questionnaire variables. Several machine learning methods including Support Vector Machine, artificial neural network-based and tree-structured methods combined individually with three feature selectors Relief-F, minimum redundancy maximum relevance (mRMR) and maximum-likelihood feature selector (MLFS) have been applied for model development. The second purpose is to design a new ensemble feature selector, which aggregates the consensus properties of Relief-F, mRMR and MLFS to produce more robust decisions about the set of relevantly identified VO2max predictors and to create more accurate prediction models. Using 10-fold cross validation on three different datasets, the performance of prediction models has been evaluated by calculating their multiple correlation coefficients (R's) and root mean squared errors (RMSE's). The results show that compared with the results of the other regular feature selection-based models in literature, the reported values of R and RMSE of the hybrid models in this thesis are considerably more accurate. Furthermore, prediction models based on the proposed ensemble feature selector outperform the models created by individually using the Relief-F, mRMR or MLFS, achieving similar or ideally up to 12.46% lower error rates on the average.
