Automated Microbiology; dabbling into detection, light scanning and analysis of particles. Amore recent aspect of automation has been, made possible by the advent of the microprocessor orcomputer-on-a-chip. The development of miniature, inexpensive micro-computers has resulted in the automation for relatively sophisticated processes. The two aspects of automation are represented in this monograph. The automated control of physical processes, and automation of the information processing. There are elements of both aspects of automation in this book. The areas discussed do emphasize more or less strongly either tight automated control of physical processes or automation of information processing. They all represent the attempt of medical technology to yield more precise, accurate, less expensive and faster to acid in the clinical diagnosis.

Download or read book Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Its Applications written by Q. Alan Xu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-04-01 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores both the benefits and limitations of new UHPLC technology High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been widely used in analytical chemistry and biochemistry to separate, identify, and quantify compounds for decades. The science of liquid chromatography, however, was revolutionized a few years ago with the advent of ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), which made it possible for researchers to analyze sample compounds with greater speed, resolution, and sensitivity. Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Its Applications enables readers to maximize the performance of UHPLC as well as develop UHPLC methods tailored to their particular research needs. Readers familiar with HPLC methods will learn how to transfer these methods to a UHPLC platform and vice versa. In addition, the book explores a variety of UHPLC applications designed to support research in such fields as pharmaceuticals, food safety, clinical medicine, and environmental science. The book begins with discussions of UHPLC method development and method transfer between HPLC and UHPLC platforms. It then examines practical aspects of UHPLC. Next, the book covers: Coupling UHPLC with mass spectrometry Potential of shell particles in fast liquid chromatography Determination of abused drugs in human biological matrices Analyses of isoflavones and flavonoids Therapeutic protein characterization Analysis of illicit drugs The final chapter of the book explores the use of UHPLC in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics studies for traditional Chinese medicine. With its frank discussions of UHPLC's benefits and limitations, Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Its Applications equips analytical scientists with the skills and knowledge needed to take full advantage of this new separation technology.

Book High Performance Liquid Chromatography of Proteins and Peptides

Download or read book High Performance Liquid Chromatography of Proteins and Peptides written by Milton Hearn and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-Performance Liquid Chromatography of Proteins and Peptides contains the proceedings of the first International Symposium on High-Performance Liquid Chromatography of Proteins and Peptides, held in Washington, D.C., on November 16-17, 1981. The symposium focused on the use of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in the analysis, characterization, and isolation of peptides and proteins and encompassed six sessions covering size exclusion, ion exchange, and reversed phase chromatography, as well as the use of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in protein structural studies and peptide isolation. This book is comprised of 28 chapters and begins with a discussion on the status of high-performance ion-exchange chromatography of proteins, followed by an analysis of peptic fragmentation of human immunoglobulin G using HPLC. The physicochemical basis of peptide retention with chemically bonded hydrocarbonaceous silicas and the isolation of biologically active peptides from tissue extracts are also examined. Subsequent chapters explore some additional applications of HPLC, such as cord blood screening for hemoglobin disorders; purification of commercial trypsin and chymotrypsin; characterization of human alcohol dehydrogenase isoenzymes; and structural studies of neurophysins, photolabeled derivatives, and biosynthetic precursors. This monograph should be of value to students and researchers interested in the use of HPLC to study proteins and peptides.

Book Application of NOVEL Stationary Phases in High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Download or read book Application of NOVEL Stationary Phases in High Performance Liquid Chromatography written by Omar Abubaker Rbeida and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The reversed-phase-silica bonded packing materials have been the most regularly used phases for the analysis of drugs and related substances for 3 decades. During that time they have been used in assay procedures and stability indicating assay method in dosage forms and in the biological fluids. However, these phases have continued to display disadvantages which effect their efficient operation which includes the solubility of the silica matrix and the detachment of the bonded layer at high and low pH ranges respectively, the difficulty to reproduce the same bonded stationary phases, and the major detrimental contribution of the silanol groups on the silica surface have affected also retention behaviour and stability of the assay. Therefore in this work the introduction of alternative stationary phases to substituted silica is considered. Alumina-bonded C,18, a Buckyclutcher column and a carbon fiber column have all been examined for their stability under aggressive conditions, and their retention behaviour and their capability to retain and resolve compounds better than silica bonded phases was studied. By using alumina C,18 stationary phase it was possible to resolve the amino alcohol, atenolol from its widely chemically different related substances and assay it in a tablet dosage form with good precision ....
