Book Recommendations on Piling EA Pf hle

Download or read book Recommendations on Piling EA Pf hle written by Geotechnik and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-12-09 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook provides a complete and detailed overview of piling systems and their application. The design and construction of piled foundations is based on Eurocode 7 and DIN 1054 edition 2010 as well as the European construction codes DIN EN 1536 (Bored piles), DIN EN 12699 (Displacement piles) and DIN EN 14199 (Micropiles). These recommendations also deal with - categorisation of piling systems, - actions on piles from structural loading, negative skin friction and side pressure, - pile resistances from static and dynamic pile test loading as well as extensive tables with the pile load-bearing capacity of nearly all piling systems based on values from practical experience, - pile groups, - performance of static and dynamic test loading and integrity tests, - load-bearing behaviour and verifications for piles under cyclical, dynamic and impact actions - quality assurance for construction. An appendix with numerous calculation examples completes the work. As part of the approval procedure for offshore wind energy structures, the Federal Office for Shipping and Hydrography (BSH) demands verifications according to the new Chapter 13 ("Load-bearing behaviour and verifications for piles under cyclical, dynamical and impact actions") of the EA Pfähle (the recommendations of the Piling working group - 2nd edition), which deals with external pile resistance for the foundations of offshore wind energy structures and the types of verifications to be provided under cyclical actions. The publication of the EA-Pfähle recommendations by the Piling working group of the German Society for Geotechnics (DGGT), which works with the same members as the piling standards committee NA 00-05-07, is intended to provide assistance for engineers active in the design, calculation and construction of piled foundations. The recommendations can thus be considered as rules of the technology and as a supplement to the available codes and standards.

Book Pile Driving Analysis for Pile Design and Quality Assurance

Download or read book Pile Driving Analysis for Pile Design and Quality Assurance written by Rodrigo Salgado and published by . This book was released on 2018-02 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Driven piles are commonly used in foundation engineering. The most accurate measurement of pile capacity is achieved from measurements made during static load tests. Static load tests, however, may be too expensive for certain projects. In these cases, indirect estimates of the pile capacity can be made through dynamic measurements. These estimates can be performed either through pile driving formulae or through analytical methods, such as the Case method.Pile driving formulae, which relate the pile set per blow to the capacity of the pile, are frequently used to determine whether the pile has achieved its design capacity. However, existing formulae have numerous shortcomings. These formulae are based on empirical observations and lack scientific validation. This report details the development of more accurate and reliable pile driving formulae developed from advanced one-dimensional FE simulations. These formulae are derived for piles installed in five typical soil profiles: a floating pile in sand, an end¿bearing pile in sand, a floating pile in clay, an end¿bearing pile in clay and a pile crossing a normally consolidated clay layer and resting on a dense sand layer. The proposed driving formulae are validated through well-documented case histories of full-scale instrumented driven piles. The proposed formulae are more accurate and reliable on average than other existing methods for the case histories considered in this study. This report also discusses the development of a pile driving control system, a fully integrated system developed by Purdue that can be used to collect, process, and analyze data to estimate the capacities of piles using the Case method and the pile driving formulae developed at Purdue.

Book Development and Implementation of New Driven Pile Technology

Download or read book Development and Implementation of New Driven Pile Technology written by Robert Y. Liang and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Driven piles have been frequently used by highway engineers to support bridges, retaining walls, and overhead signs. Prior to pile driving, engineers need to estimate the required pile length based on soil information and soil mechanics principles. During pile driving, engineers need to verify the load-carrying capacity and integrity of each driven pile. The analysis tools for pile length estimation and dynamic pile testing techniques for pile-driving control constitute the two main focuses of this research.

Book Load and Resistance Factor Design and Construction Control of Driven Piles in Intermediate Geomaterials

Download or read book Load and Resistance Factor Design and Construction Control of Driven Piles in Intermediate Geomaterials written by Pramila Adhikari and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Static Analysis methods originally developed for soils are currently used for estimating pile resistances in Intermediate Geomaterials (IGMs), and structural capacity has been considered as the limiting pile capacity on hard rocks. The application of current Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) for piles in IGMs has resulted in relatively high uncertainties in pile resistance estimation during design and the length to which the piles are driven into IGMs during construction. Moreover, the absence of standard criteria to differentiate the geomaterials creates challenges in the design and construction of driven piles in IGMs. The application of a dynamic analysis method using Wave Equation Analysis Program is constrained by geomaterial input for IGMs and rocks. These current challenges have led to conservative pile resistance estimations. Thus, the overall objectives of this study were to determine efficient static analysis methods, dynamic procedures for construction control, pile setup/relaxation, and resistance factors for the estimation of the axial pile resistances in IGMs, ensuring a prescribed level of reliability to meet LRFD philosophy. To accomplish these objectives, classification criteria of geomaterials were first created to establish a standard quantitative delineation between the soils, IGMs, and hard rocks for the design of driven piles. In addition, a catalog of IGM properties was prepared to facilitate the preliminary design of piles in IGMs. Secondly, a new set of design equations were developed and validated for IGMs by utilizing the developed geomaterial classification criteria. Thirdly, wave equation analysis procedures for IGMs were recommended for pile construction control. Fourthly, changes in pile resistances in IGMs with respect to time at an End of Driving and Beginning of Restrike were assessed. Finally, probability based resistance factors were calibrated and recommended based on the efficiency factors for the existing and calibrated static analysis methods. Calibrated static analysis methods were concluded to have higher efficiency factors of 0.61, 0.30, and 0.41 against efficiency factors of 0.28, 0.09, and 0.14 corresponding to existing static analysis methods for shaft resistance estimation in IGMs. Similarly, calibrated static analysis methods were concluded to have higher efficiency factors of 0.24 and 0.48 against efficiency factors of 0.13 and 0.29 corresponding to existing static analysis methods for end bearing estimation in IGMs.
