Book Design and Test of Dynamic Vibration Absorbers

Download or read book Design and Test of Dynamic Vibration Absorbers written by Steven F. Griffin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-26 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to educate the beneficiaries of this technology, because there is so little awareness and understanding of what can be achieved with tuned mass dampers and vibration absorbers and of the relatively small increase in mass and complexity in exchange for the tremendous benefit in vibration reduction. It introduces the feedback approach to help understand why these devices work and are very helpful in modeling the devices on complicated structures. The hardware demonstrators are simple and directly scalable to more complicated structures. Once a reader successfully operates the demonstration hardware, the concepts in the book are directly scalable to implementations on very complex structures like airplanes and rockets. A recipe is provided to 3D print most of the parts as well as easy-to-find brackets and sensors. The whole kit can be assembled in an afternoon. The directions will be similar in detail to a DIY magazine article, providing simple, step-by-step procedures. Book Random Vibration in Mechanical Systems

Download or read book Random Vibration in Mechanical Systems written by Stephen H. Crandall and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Random Vibration in Mechanical Systems focuses on the fundamental facts and theories of random vibration in a form particularly applicable to mechanical engineers. The book first offers information on the characterization and transmission of random vibration. Discussions focus on the normal or Gaussian random process; excitation-response relations for stationary random processes; response of a single-degree-of-freedom system to stationary random excitation; wide-band and narrow-band random processes; and frequency decomposition of stationary random processes. The text then examines failure due to random vibration, including failure due to first excursion up to a certain level; fatigue failure due to a stationary narrow-band random stress process; failure due to an accumulation of damage; failure due to response remaining above a certain level for too great a fraction of the time; and failure mechanisms. The manuscript is a vital reference for mechanical engineers and researchers interested in random vibration in mechanical systems.

Book Nonlinear Vibration Reduction

Download or read book Nonlinear Vibration Reduction written by Albert C. J. Luo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2023-12-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tuned mass damper is one of the classic dynamic vibration absorbers with effective devices for energy dissipation and vibration reduction. The electromagnetically tuned mass damper system is extensively used for vibration reduction in engineering. A better understanding of the nonlinear dynamics of the electromagnetically tuned mass damper system is very important to optimize the parameters of such systems for vibration reduction. However, until now, one cannot fully understand complex periodic motions in such a nonlinear, electromagnetically tuned mass damper system. In this book, the semi-analytical solutions of periodic motions are presented through period-1, period-3, period-9, and period-12 motions. The corresponding stability and bifurcations of periodic motions are determined. The frequency-amplitude characteristics for bifurcation routes of such higher-order periodic motions are presented. This book helps people better understand the dynamical behaviors of an electromagnetically tuned mass damper system for the new development and design of vibration reduction and energy harvesting systems.

Book Vibration Analysis and Control

Download or read book Vibration Analysis and Control written by Jeff Winters and published by . This book was released on 2016-10-01 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People became interested in vibration when they created the first musical instruments, probably whistles or drums. Since then, both musicians and philosophers have sought out the rules and laws of sound production, used them in improving musical instruments, and passed them on from generation to generation. Vibration refers to periodic back-and-forth motion of the particles of an elastic body or medium, commonly resulting when almost any physical system is displaced from its equilibrium condition and allowed to respond to the forces that tend to restore equilibrium. Vibrations fall into two categories: free and forced. Free vibrations occur when the system is disturbed momentarily and then allowed to move without restraint. The vibrations of a spring are of a particularly simple kind known as simple harmonic motion (SHM). Forced vibrations occur if a system is continuously driven by an external agency. A simple example is a child's swing that is pushed on each downswing. Of special interest are systems undergoing SHM and driven by sinusoidal forcing. Vibration Analysis (VA), applied in an industrial or maintenance environment aims to reduce maintenance costs and equipment downtime by detecting equipment faults. VA is a key component of a Condition Monitoring (CM) program, and is often referred to as Predictive Maintenance (PdM). Most commonly VA is used to detect faults in rotating equipment (Fans, Motors, Pumps, and Gearboxes etc.) such as Unbalance, Misalignment, rolling element bearing faults and resonance conditions. Vibration Analysis and Control - New Trends and Developments focuses on the important and diverse field of vibration analysis and control. The book covers a wide range of research topics related to design methodologies of passive, semiactive and active vibration control schemes, vibration control devices, fault detection, finite element analysis and other recent applications and studies of this fascinating field of vibration analysis and control. The book should be of valuable to researchers and practitioners of this field, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students and other experts and newcomers looking for supplementary information about the state of the art, challenging open problems, ground-breaking solution proposals and new trends and developments in this arena.

Book Theoretical and numerical analysis of active and adaptive dynamic vibration absorbers

Download or read book Theoretical and numerical analysis of active and adaptive dynamic vibration absorbers written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
