Book Investigation of Fluids Flow Behavior in Nano scale Channels by Using Optic Imaging System

Download or read book Investigation of Fluids Flow Behavior in Nano scale Channels by Using Optic Imaging System written by Qihua Wu and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Tight gas and shale gas reservoirs are characterized to have small pores with diameters in nanometer (nm) range. The physics of fluid flow in nanopores is poorly understood. Knowing the fluid flow behavior in the nano-range channels is of major importance for stimulation design, gas production optimization and calculations of the relative permeability of gas in tight shale gas systems. In this work, a lab-on-chip approach for direct visualization of the fluid flow behavior in nano-scale channels was developed using an advanced epi-fluorescence microscopy method combined with a nano-fluidic chip. The nanofluidic chips with different dimensions were designed and fabricated. First a concentration dependent fluorescence signal correlation was developed for the determination of single phase flow rate. Experiments of water/gas flow in nano-scale channels with 100nm depth were conducted. Meanwhile, three different flow patterns were observed from two phase flow in nano-scale channels experiments and their special features were described. The displacements of two-phase flow in 100 nm depth slit-like channels were reported in the second part of this work. Specifically, the two-phase gas slippage factor as the function of water saturation was studied. Moreover, water/gas two phase displacements were visualized in nanochanels with various depths. The displacements mechanisms for both drainage and imbibition processes were discussed and water/gas relative permeability in nano-scale channels were summarized. The residue water/gas saturations in nano-scale channels were also characterized. The results of this work are crucial for permeability measurement and understanding fluid flow behavior for unconventional shale gas systems with nanopores."--Abstract, page iv.

Book Prototype Development of an Automated Data Acquisition System for a Single Channel Autoanalyzer

Download or read book Prototype Development of an Automated Data Acquisition System for a Single Channel Autoanalyzer written by Charles H. Beck and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Instruments such as the AutoAnalyzer have increased productivity of data in clinical and research laboratories, but there is need to improve the efficiency of data analysis. The tedious process of manually performing waveform analysis from the AutoAnalyzer suggests the need for cost-effective automation. This report describes the work resulting from a research project which has demonstrated that modification of the Minuteman D17B Computer to provide for AutoAnalyzer waveform analysis is not only feasible but cost-effective. The D17B is a small general-purpose computer used in Minuteman I missiles. This report includes comprehensive documentation of related theory, system design, and programming required to accomplish data acquisition, control, and waveform analysis necessary to perform automated concentration analysis for a single-channel AutoAnalyzer. Book A High Speed Data Acquisition System for Fluid Mechanics Measurements Classic Reprint

Download or read book A High Speed Data Acquisition System for Fluid Mechanics Measurements Classic Reprint written by L. P. Purtell and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-18 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A High-Speed Data Acquisition System for Fluid Mechanics Measurements The computer had been employed successfully even for the time averaged measurements required by the earlier approaches to turbulent flow, especially for the more complicated correlations and statistical variables.12 However, now their use has become almost mandatory to perform the highly complex functions of educing the ordered motions from time varying measurements of many simultaneous signals. In some instances the signals are recorded in real time, then digitized and analyzed later on a main frame computer. However, the increasing sophistication of minicomputers has led to widespread oh-site collection and analysis of data. Book Study and Implementation of Data Acquisition Tools in an Industrial Automation System

Download or read book Study and Implementation of Data Acquisition Tools in an Industrial Automation System written by Anshul Saxena and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As global price competition intensifies and complexity of the product increases, machine processes push the physical and operational limits of the system manufacturers. The most important result is increasingly narrow tolerances for the parameters controlling the machine process. In the present study the various parameters of a deposition machine such as flow rate, gas pressures, RF voltage etc. are controlled and regulated with narrow tolerances using a software tool and a high resolution data acquisition board (DAQ). A comparative study is made of two of the most widely-used data acquisition software tools in the industry, Matlab and LabView. A qualitative analysis is performed, and it is found that LabView is better suited towards the case in point, due to its higher flexibility, better driver support and wide-ranging I/O capabilities. To accomplish the objectives a user interface and a block diagram for each parameter is developed in LabView using NI-DAQmx programming. DAQ board is used to make the analog interface between the instruments and the personal computer. The acquired data can be seen in real time in LabView for instant calibration. Simulations for controlling and regulating all the parameters using LabView were performed to account for any discrepancies in the automation of the machine. Using TDMS File Viewer and Microsoft Excel, a database was created to load the real time data for export into graphs for later comparison. Modular development style also allows future improvements and advancements as one can easily remove or substitute industry systems in LabView. It was found that automation of an industrial machine with sophisticated data acquisition and control process can be accomplished using low cost Personal Computer (PC). Also, the system integration and software development are greatly simplified, and the total cost can be reduced. In addition, interfacing the software with the database for storage, recall of all the machine configuration parameters, and measurement results helps the user to search and sort the resulting database files in highly flexible and customizable data management architecture. The motivation of the study came from the need to develop an automated machine which can be controlled, regulated and able to store the data for later purposes. Display of real time data from the parameters also helps user to visualize the data flow of each parameter separately.

Book Networked Data Acquisition Systems Daq 96 Proceedings Of The Second International Data Acquisition Workshop

Download or read book Networked Data Acquisition Systems Daq 96 Proceedings Of The Second International Data Acquisition Workshop written by Shuhei Ajimura and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1997-07-15 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This workshop followed the First International Conference, which was hosted by Fermilab, on 26-28 October, 1994. That conference discussed the switch type event builder. Much intensive R&D work ensued from it, showing the importance of (1) data flow control and (2) high speed memory access on network adapters/drivers. Those two themes are involved in many networked data acquisition systems. Therefore, “Networked Data Acquisition Systems” was selected as the theme of DAQ 96. It includes a wide variety of data acquisition system presentations from present and near-future experiments at high energy and nuclear physics laboratories.
