Book Intuitive Understanding of Kalman Filtering with MATLAB

Download or read book Intuitive Understanding of Kalman Filtering with MATLAB written by Armando Barreto and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-09-06 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emergence of affordable micro sensors, such as MEMS Inertial Measurement Systems, which are being applied in embedded systems and Internet-of-Things devices, has brought techniques such as Kalman Filtering, capable of combining information from multiple sensors or sources, to the interest of students and hobbyists. This will book will develop just the necessary background concepts, helping a much wider audience of readers develop an understanding and intuition that will enable them to follow the explanation for the Kalman Filtering algorithm

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In addition to making a number of minor corrections and updat ing the references, we have expanded the section on "real-time system identification" in Chapter 10 of the first edition into two sections and combined it with Chapter 8. In its place, a very brief introduction to wavelet analysis is included in Chapter 10. Although the pyramid algorithms for wavelet decompositions and reconstructions are quite different from the Kalman filtering al gorithms, they can also be applied to time-domain filtering, and it is hoped that splines and wavelets can be incorporated with Kalman filtering in the near future. College Station and Houston Charles K. Chui September 1990 Guanrong Chen Preface to the First Edition Kalman filtering is an optimal state estimation process applied to a dynamic system that involves random perturbations. More precisely, the Kalman filter gives a linear, unbiased, and min imum error variance recursive algorithm to optimally estimate the unknown state of a dynamic system from noisy data taken at discrete real-time. It has been widely used in many areas of industrial and government applications such as video and laser tracking systems, satellite navigation, ballistic missile trajectory estimation, radar, and fire control. With the recent development of high-speed computers, the Kalman filter has become more use ful even for very complicated real-time applications.

Book Introduction and Implementations of the Kalman Filter

Download or read book Introduction and Implementations of the Kalman Filter written by Felix Govaers and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2019-05-22 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sensor data fusion is the process of combining error-prone, heterogeneous, incomplete, and ambiguous data to gather a higher level of situational awareness. In principle, all living creatures are fusing information from their complementary senses to coordinate their actions and to detect and localize danger. In sensor data fusion, this process is transferred to electronic systems, which rely on some "awareness" of what is happening in certain areas of interest. By means of probability theory and statistics, it is possible to model the relationship between the state space and the sensor data. The number of ingredients of the resulting Kalman filter is limited, but its applications are not.

Book The Development of a Kalman Filtering Algorithm for Hybrid Navigation in Army Aircraft

Download or read book The Development of a Kalman Filtering Algorithm for Hybrid Navigation in Army Aircraft written by Joseph A. Knight and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Control system solutions have been formulated using Kalman filtering -- a data processing technique whereby a dynamic error model of the system, as well as the statistical parameters of the instrumentation and measurement noise, are combined in a state space equation to estimate the system errors. Hybrid navigation is a natural candidate for such control techniques and several studies have been made in this general area although no systems designed for Army aircraft have been flown. This paper will present the analytical results obtained in the first phase of a US Army program to determine the feasibility of hybrid navigation for Army purposes. The program will culminate in flight tests in 1970-71. The paper will address four major areas: synoptic statement of Kalman filter principles, general determination of needs unique to the Army, error model analysis of the candidate navigation subsystem, and development of the Kalman filter algorithm.
