Download or read book Change Ahead Sustainable Governance in the BRICS written by Bertelsmann Stiftung and published by Verlag Bertelsmann Stiftung. This book was released on 2013-11-01 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emergent powers of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) are drawing attention as they change the political and economic map of the 21st century. But does each country have the institutional framework needed to advance its path of development and to effectively address needed reforms with sustainable solutions? With the support of an international network of experts, the Bertelsmann Stiftung has conducted an indicator-based inventory of the state and performance of governance in each BRICS country. Focusing on success factors and policy challenges, this study draws upon the analytic tool of the Sustainable Governance Indicators (SGI), allowing for a cross-national analysis of the need for reform in core policy areas such as economic and social affairs, environmental policies and innovation strategies. At the same time, the capacities of each country's system of governance are explored in each BRICS state. explores the the extent to which problems are identified and strategic solutions implemented in each of the five political systems. By looking at both reform needs and reform capacities, this study points to considerable differences in the prospects for development in each country - prospects which, in some cases, fall short of the expected growth and progress.

Download or read book Europ isches Bankaufsichtsrecht written by Simon G. Grieser and published by Frankfurt School Verlag. This book was released on 2020-03-26 with total page 1178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The BRICs Superpower Challenge

Download or read book The BRICs Superpower Challenge written by Kwang Ho Chun and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-23 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an imaginative and interesting way, Kwang Ho Chun seeks to capture the dynamics of the changing international system and the prospects for a change in the international distribution of power. The idea that new superpowers could rise and that some of the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India and China) could be such superpowers, is particularly intriguing and the main idea explored in this study. In line with neo-realist approaches, this book argues that in a unipolar world competitors will rise to challenge the global hegemon. As the power profiles of the BRICs rise and they gain greater control of geo-global politics, they are likely to attain significant regional dominance among other regional powers although their underdeveloped tradition of hard power and internal challenges could prevent them from gaining superpower status. This book captures the dynamics of the changing international system and the prospects for a change in the international distribution of power.
