Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I wrote this book for my family and friends, because I wanted them to see there are other sides in Law Enforcement. When its time to work, officers give all they have to protect life and property. Sometimes they give their lives, so you may live. Sometimes officers have to relieve stress in their own way. They have to find a way to relieve stress, so they dont bring it home. The less stress an officer keeps within him/herself, the better chance he/she has to do their job and will also have a better chance to survive until retirement. Have you ever looked down the barrel of a loaded gun, in the hands of a crazy person? I have.

I enjoyed the macabre cat-and-mouse plot, and look forward to great things from debut author, Mark Dame." - Jaye Wells, USA Today Bestselling author of the Sabina Kane series "Dark Ties is a superb thriller. Dark, engaging, and fast-paced. I loved it." - Danielle Urban, Urban Book Reviews "Dark Ties is dark, disturbing, and flat out creepy." - Goodreads review Ken Simmons is haunted by nightmares of a serial killer--the killer in his latest bestseller who methodically stalks and slaughters young women. But Ken dismisses them as just dreams. Then a sheriff from a rural county in South Dakota comes to his door with evidence that his new novel isn't merely fantasy: it details brutal murders going back over ten years. Together they discover that Ken's ties to the killer aren't a figment of Ken's imagination, and his horrific visions may not be just dreams. Now, with his quiet world spinning out of control, and a real-life killer on the loose, Ken must decide whether to run... or face the monster he once thought only existed in his mind. Dark Ties is a roller-coaster ride you won't be able to put down.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "You can't truly understand the country you're living in without reading Williamson." —Rich Lowry, National Review "His observations on American culture, history, and politics capture the moment we're in—and where we are going." —Dana Perino, Fox News An Appalachian economy that uses cases of Pepsi as money. Life in a homeless camp in Austin. A young woman whose résumé reads, “Topless Chick, Uncredited.” Remorselessly unsentimental, Kevin D. Williamson is a chronicler of American underclass dysfunction unlike any other. From the hollows of Eastern Kentucky to the porn business in Las Vegas, from the casinos of Atlantic City to the heroin rehabs of New Orleans, he depicts an often brutal reality that does not fit nicely into any political narrative or comfort any partisan. Coming from the world he writes about, Williamson understands it in a way that most commentators on American politics and culture simply can’t. In these sometimes savage and often hilarious essays, he takes readers on a wild tour of the wreckage of the American republic—the “white minstrel show” of right-wing grievance politics, progressive politicians addicted to gambling revenue, the culture of passive victimhood, and the reality of permanent poverty. Unsparing yet never unsympathetic, Big White Ghetto provides essential insight into an enormous but forgotten segment of American society.

  • Author : Noel Grove
  • Publisher : AuthorHouse
  • Release : 2008-10-31
  • ISBN : 1452047693
  • Pages : 382 pages

Download or read book Anyone But Duane written by Noel Grove and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-10-31 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a true-to-life book about multiple murders that happened in 1965 during a bank robbery in Nebraska, but it so much more. Running through the book are accounts of what happened during Duane Pope's boyhood that influenced his bizarre killing of a bank president and two of his workers, and a paralyzing of a fourth, who died recently. Duane was a shy boy who was punished by his brutish parents for everything he did wrong. Consequently, he tried to do everything right and this resulted in a frustrating situation for him, although he was a star athlete and of perfect behavior. He secretly planned the bank robbery, thinking every step of the way that someone would stop him. No one did, and he killed the bank workers and wounded a fourth, fleeing in the meantime. He would have gotten away but turned himself in to law officers after a couple of weeks. He was tried twice—once in federal courtroom and a second time in state court—and convicted both times. He is now in his seventies and in a federal prison where he has reverted to his original self and is considered a model prisoner by his guards. I covered his trial and was struck by how he admitted doing the deed, but why did he do it? This book covers the "why."
