Book The Determination of Trace Elements in Coal by Atomic absorption Spectroscopy

Download or read book The Determination of Trace Elements in Coal by Atomic absorption Spectroscopy written by and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods based on atomic-absorption spectrophotometry, and involving various techniques for dissolution and measurement of the sample, have been developed for the determination of trace elements in coal. Non-volatile elements are determined by flame atomic absorption, and vanadium by electrothermal atomization of a solution, after ashing of the sample and dissolution of the residue with acid. Arsenic, selenium, bismuth, and tellurium are determined by hydride generation on a separate portion of the sample that has been ashed in the presence of sodium carbonate and fused with sodium peroxide. The laboratory methods are detailed in the appendices.

Book CRC Handbook of Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy

Download or read book CRC Handbook of Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy written by Asha Varma and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-01-10 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (FAAS), which has gained worldwide acceptance as an analytical technique. FAAS offers 100-1000 times better determination and detection limits than other techniques for a majority of the elements. This technique requires a small sample size, and demands less sample-preparation time than others. The handbook is a collection of thousands of references for detection and determination of various elements in agricultural products, biological and clinical samples, and metallurgical and electronic materials. Each chapter is devoted to an element or a similar group of elements. Included are instrumental setup parameters, references, and author and subject indexes. Also presented are detailed appendixes covering glossary, list of manufacturers of spectrophotometers and its accessories, list of chemical suppliers, and list of reviews and abstracts. The handbook covers topics such as heavy metals, clinical products, and trace metal analysis. This desk-top reference is meant for chemists who handle day-to-day analysis problems in laboratories in government, clinical, industrial and academic settings. It is invaluable for those involved in research in environmental science, analytical chemistry, clinical chemistry and forensic science.

Download or read book Handbook of Coal Analysis written by James G. Speight and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2005-05-13 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All the guidance needed to test coal and analyze the results With the skyrocketing costs of most fuel sources, government, industry, and consumers are taking a greater interest in coal, an abundant and inexpensive alternative, which has been made more environmentally friendly through new technology. Published in response to this renewed interest, Handbook of Coal Analysis provides readers with everything they need to know about testing and analyzing coal. Moreover, it explains the meaning of test results and how these results can predict coal behavior and its corresponding environmental impact during use. The thorough coverage of coal analysis includes: * Detailed presentation of necessary standard tests and procedures * Explanation of coal behavior relative to its usage alongside the corresponding environmental issues * Coverage of nomenclature, terminology, sampling, and accuracy and precision of analysis * Step-by-step test method protocols for proximate analysis, ultimate analysis, mineral matter, physical and electrical properties, thermal properties, mechanical properties, spectroscopic properties, and solvent properties * Emphasis on relevant American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards and test methods, including corresponding International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and British Standards Institution (BSI) test method numbers To assist readers in understanding the material, a glossary of terms is provided. Each term is defined in straightforward language that enables readers to better grasp complex concepts and theory. References at the end of each chapter lead readers to more in-depth discussions of specialized topics. This is an essential reference for analytical chemists, process chemists, and engineers in the coal industry as well as other professionals and researchers who are looking to coal as a means to decrease dependence on foreign oil sources and devise more efficient, cleaner methods of energy production.
