Book excerpt: The decades of the 1970s and 1980s were a very exciting period of discovery in the field of computer graphics. It was a time when new rendering algorithms, different modeling strategies, clever animation techniques, and significant advances in photorealism were being made. Complementing these software developments, hardware systems were dominated by raster technology and programmers had access to excellent workstations on which to develop their graphics systems. In the 1990s, incredible advances in computer graphics are far surpassing developments made during the last twenty years. Yesterdays computer graphics have given way to todays virtual reality. This volume brings together contributions from internationalexperts on the diverse, yet important, range of topics that impact the design and application of virtual environments. Topics covered include 3-D modeling; new approaches to rendering virtual environments; recent research into the problems of animating and visualizing virtual environments; applications for virtual reality systems; and simulation of complex behaviors.Computer Graphics: Developments in Virtual Environments provides a unique opportunity to examine current practice and expert thinking. It is essential reading for students, practitioners, researchers, or anyone else who wishes to find out more about this exciting area.Provides comprehensive coverage of the latest topics in computer graphics, virtual reality, and humancomputer interactionContributors are international experts in the fieldExamines many real-world applications in a wide variety of fields

Book DETECTION MULTI ECHELLE DE CONTOURS SUBPIXEL ET DE JONCTIONS

Download or read book DETECTION MULTI ECHELLE DE CONTOURS SUBPIXEL ET DE JONCTIONS written by SALVATORE.. TABBONE and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: UN SYSTEME DE VISION SE DECOMPOSE GENERALEMENT EN PLUSIEURS NIVEAUX. LE PREMIER NIVEAU (BAS NIVEAU) A POUR OBJECTIF D'EXTRAIRE, DE L'ENORME QUANTITE D'INFORMATION CONTENUE DANS UNE IMAGE, DES PRIMITIVES ROBUSTES ET EXPLOITABLES. LA QUALITE DES RESULTATS DES NIVEAUX SUPERIEURS EST DONC TRIBUTAIRE DE CELLE DU BAS NIVEAU. NOUS TENTONS DE REPONDRE AUX ATTENTES DES NIVEAUX SUPERIEURS D'UN SYSTEME DE VISION EN LEUR FOURNISSANT DES INFORMATIONS ROBUSTES, EXPLOITABLES ET AUSSI PROCHES QUE POSSIBLE DE LA SCENE OBSERVEE. NOUS PROPOSONS UN SYSTEME COMPLET DE TRAITEMENT BAS NIVEAU D'IMAGES A NIVEAU DE GRIS. UNE IMAGE EST DECRITE A PLUSIEURS ECHELLES (DETECTION MULTI-ECHELLE) EN TERME DE JONCTIONS ET DE CONTOURS AVEC UNE PRECISION SUBPIXEL. UN ALGORITHME DE FERMETURE DE CONTOURS FAIT COOPERER LES CONTOURS ET LES JONCTIONS DETECTES. NOTRE SYSTEME EST FONDE SUR DES ETUDES ORIGINALES DE COMPORTEMENT DE MODELES D'INDICES VIS-A-VIS D'UN DETECTEUR DE CONTOURS

Book Flow Sensing in Air and Water

    Book Details:
  • Author : Horst Bleckmann
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2014-01-22
  • ISBN : 364241446X
  • Pages : 558 pages

Download or read book Flow Sensing in Air and Water written by Horst Bleckmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-01-22 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, leading scientists in the fields of sensory biology, neuroscience, physics and engineering explore the basic operational principles and behavioral uses of flow sensing in animals and how they might be applied to engineering applications such as autonomous control of underwater or aerial vehicles. Although humans possess no flow-sensing abilities, countless aquatic (e.g. fish, cephalopods and seals), terrestrial (e.g. crickets and spiders) and aerial (e.g. bats) animals have flow sensing abilities that underlie remarkable behavioral feats. These include the ability to follow silent hydrodynamic trails long after the trailblazer has left the scene, to form hydrodynamic images of their environment in total darkness, and to swim or fly efficiently and effortlessly in the face of destabilizing currents and winds.

Book Local Approximation Techniques in Signal and Image Processing

Download or read book Local Approximation Techniques in Signal and Image Processing written by Vladimir I︠A︡kovlevich Katkovnik and published by SPIE-International Society for Optical Engineering. This book was released on 2006 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with a wide class of novel and efficient adaptive signal processing techniques developed to restore signals from noisy and degraded observations. These signals include those acquired from still or video cameras, electron microscopes, radar, X-rays, or ultrasound devices, and are used for various purposes, including entertainment, medical, business, industrial, military, civil, security, and scientific. In many cases useful information and high quality must be extracted from the imaging. However, often raw signals are not directly suitable for this purpose and must be processed in some way. Such processing is called signal reconstruction. This book is devoted to a recent and original approach to signal reconstruction based on combining two independent ideas: local polynomial approximation and the intersection of confidence interval rule.
