Book Technology Development Program for Twenty First Century Aerospace Vehicles

Download or read book Technology Development Program for Twenty First Century Aerospace Vehicles written by William T. Suit and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1985, a presidential directive initiated the National Space Transportation and Support Study which instructed NASA and the DOD to look at the national needs for large system architecture, avionics, and mission requirements to support the design of space transportation systems through the year 2010. The purpose of the joint NASA-DOD program resulting from the directive was to conduct studies to determine the technology development required for the design of the next generation of space transportation systems. These objectives are discussed in greater detail in reference 1. Much of the proposed research is mission motivated, and vehicle operations will be the focal point for this research. In this paper, we will primarily discuss NASA's input to the avionics technology development plan. NATO Furnished. (rh).

Book excerpt: The next major step in the evolution of the space program is the exploration of the planet Mars. In preparation for this, much research is needed on the problem of surveying the planet surface. An aircraft appears to be a viable solution because it can carry men and equipment large distances in a short period of time as compared with ground transportation. The problems and design of an aircraft which would be able to survey the planet Mars are examined. Unspecified Center NASA-CR-184742, NAS 1.26:184742, AAE-241-VOL-2 NGT-21-002-080...

Book Aerospace power in the twenty first century a basic primer

Download or read book Aerospace power in the twenty first century a basic primer written by Clayton K. S. Chun and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2001 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Chun's Aerospace Power in the Twenty-First Century: A Basic Primer is a great start towards understanding the importance of aerospace power and its ability to conduct modern warfare. Aerospace power is continually changing because of new technology, threats, and air and space theories. However, many basic principles about aerospace power have stood the test of time and warfare. This book provides the reader with many of these time-tested ideas for consideration and reflection. Although Aerospace Power in the Twenty-First Century was written for future officers, individuals desiring a broad overview of aerospace power are invited to read, share, and discuss many of the ideas and thoughts presented here. Officers from other services will find that this introduction to air and space forces will give them a good grasp of aerospace power. More experienced aerospace leaders can use this book to revisit many of the issues that have affected air and space forces in the past and that might affect them in the future. Air Force officers will discover that Aerospace Power in the Twenty-First Century is a very timely and reflective resource for their professional libraries.

Book Aerospace Vehicle Design Spacecraft Section

Download or read book Aerospace Vehicle Design Spacecraft Section written by Spacecraft Section Groups 1 through 7 and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "After the turn of the century, the United States plans to have a manned base on Mars. The inhabitants of this base will wish to aerially explore the surrounding planet. For this purpose, a manned Mars aircraft will be required. A spacecraft will be required to deliver this aircraft to Mars. The purpose of this presentation is to present a conceptual design for this spacecraft system. The aircraft design submitted to us by our aircraft designers has the rater unique property that the lift on the wings is insufficient to lift the weight of the plane. While this property is not desirable, it has been inspirational."--Page i.

Book Optimum Structural Design Concepts for Aerospace Vehicles

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Minimum weight design of aerospace structres has evolved during the past two decades into a rather rigorous scientific discipline that permits the rational selection of structural configurations and materials for various design requirements. Because of the pertinence of this body of literature to the structural design of advanced aerospace vehicles, a comprehensive bibliography of published literature on optimim structural design has been compiled and reviewed herein. In Part 1, a critical historical review highlights the significant advances in the literature concerned with analytical optimum design techniques for various structural elements, materials and thermal protection systems. The annotated bibliography is contained in Part 2. In Part 3, the current state of the art of the theory of optimum structural and thermostructural design is assessed. Book Stability and Control of Conventional and Unconventional Aerospace Vehicle Configurations

Download or read book Stability and Control of Conventional and Unconventional Aerospace Vehicle Configurations written by Bernd Chudoba and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-07-23 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces a stability and control methodology named AeroMech, capable of sizing the primary control effectors of fixed wing subsonic to hypersonic designs of conventional and unconventional configuration layout. Control power demands are harmonized with static-, dynamic-, and maneuver stability requirements, while taking the six-degree-of-freedom trim state into account. The stability and control analysis solves the static- and dynamic equations of motion combined with non-linear vortex lattice aerodynamics for analysis. The true complexity of addressing subsonic to hypersonic vehicle stability and control during the conceptual design phase is hidden in the objective to develop a generic (vehicle configuration independent) methodology concept. The inclusion of geometrically asymmetric aircraft layouts, in addition to the reasonably well-known symmetric aircraft types, contributes significantly to the overall technical complexity and level of abstraction. The first three chapters describe the preparatory work invested along with the research strategy devised, thereby placing strong emphasis on systematic and thorough knowledge utilization. The engineering-scientific method itself is derived throughout the second half of the book. This book offers a unique aerospace vehicle configuration independent (generic) methodology and mathematical algorithm. The approach satisfies the initial technical quest: How to develop a ‘configuration stability & control’ methodology module for an advanced multi-disciplinary aerospace vehicle design synthesis environment that permits consistent aerospace vehicle design evaluations?
