Book Uses of Recycled Rubber Tires in Highways

Download or read book Uses of Recycled Rubber Tires in Highways written by Jon A. Epps and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 1994 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This synthesis on the use of recycled rubber tires in highways will be of interest to administrators and policy-makers; pavement, materials, geotechnical, environmental, and traffic operations engineers; and research engineers involved with highway design and construction issues. Information is provided on the uses of rubber tires in asphalt paving materials as well as other uses, such as on fills and embankments, for erosion control and on railroad grade crossings. Specifically, information is included which identifies the agencies using or implementing applications for recycled rubber tires and defines the design parameters, technical and construction limitations, performance, costs, benefits, environmental limitations, specifications, and availability. This synthesis of information defines the use of recycled rubber tires in highways and is based on a review of nearly 500 references and on information recorded from state highway agency responses to a 1991 survey of practice. Updates are included for as much of the state practice information possible through 1993. The use of scrap tires for highway applications is dynamic with regard to policy and technical issues. Therefore, the reader should keep in mind that the information presented reflects the best available data at a particular time. The synthesis also identifies current research in the topic area, critical research needs, and legislative issues that affect application and use of recycled rubber tires.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rubber is used in a vast number of products, from tyres on vehicles to disposable surgical gloves. Increasingly both manufacturers and legislators are realising that recycling is essential for environmental sustainability and can improve the cost of manufacture. The volume of rubber waste produced globally makes it difficult to manage as accumulated waste rubber, especially in the form of tyres, can pose a significant fire risk. Recycling rubber not only prevents this problem but can produce new materials with desirable properties that virgin rubbers lack. This book presents an up-to-date overview of the fundamental and applied aspects of renewability and recyclability of rubber materials, emphasising existing recycling technologies with significant potential for future applications along with a detailed outline of new technology based processing of rubber to reuse and recycle. This book will be of interest to researchers in both academia and industry as well as postgraduate students working in polymer chemistry, materials processing, materials science and engineering.

Book Mass Customization and Design Democratization

Download or read book Mass Customization and Design Democratization written by Branko Kolarevic and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-07 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Parametric design and digital fabrication are enabling non-designers to mass produce non-standard, highly differentiated products – from shoes and tableware to furniture and even houses. The result of these newly available mass customization tools has been a ‘democratization’ of design. Mass Customization and Design Democratization is the first book to address this recent phenomenon. Demonstrating how the considerable potential of these tools can be realized in practice, it introduces essential technologies and design approaches and provides numerous examples of the latest, cutting edge work from leading design firms, manufacturers and thinkers. The book examines what mass customization means for architecture and the building industry and investigates its impact on the sector’s most commoditized enterprise – suburban housing. Asking whether design democratization is viable in the current context and exploring what kind of mass customization is possible, useful, and desirable, it poses fundamental questions about the authorship of design and the functional and aesthetic quality of products designed by non-designers. A highly designed book featuring over 200 color illustrations, this is essential reading for professionals as well as students taking courses in digital architecture, parametric design, and mass customization.

Book G crumbcrete Mixture

    Book Details:
  • Author : Dianne Pearl A. Aquino
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2023
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book G crumbcrete Mixture written by Dianne Pearl A. Aquino and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Philippines is facing extreme environmental issues. The country’s rich biodiversity resources are being seriously degraded due to ineffective management. The Philippines’ garbage production continues to rise, owing to an expanding population, rising living standards, rapid economic expansion, and urbanization, particularly in urban areas. The constant accumulation of waste tires in landfills is a big concern, especially because they are difficult to recycle. The increasing number of vehicles registered each year that change their tires on a regular basis is directly proportional to the garbage they generate. In construction industry on the other hand, concrete has become a global building material and is recognized as one of the most significant materials used in the construction industry, however, the construction of buildings account for a combined total 36 percent of the total energy consumption as well as 39% of annual carbon dioxide emissions. The researcher will conduct a true experimental study which manipulates addition of the G-Crumbcrete mixture that contains Waste Tire Chips, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Basalt Fiber, and Graphene-containing composite or PCB to typical concrete construction specifically cement tiles and concrete blocks. In this scenario, the independent variables are G-Crumbcrete thus the quality of the cement is the dependent variable, whereas the controlled variable is the modular workspace and TCT Laboratory where the researcher would conduct her experiment and testing. Moreover, the result of experimental data will be based in accordance to ASTM standard standards (American Standard for Testing of Materials), PNS (Philippine National Standards), (Subject: DPWH Standard Specification for Item 1046-Masonry, 2016). Lastly, the mixture design will be used to create sustainable construction materials of Concrene Labs Itd which are G-Concrete Mix, G-Crumbcrete, and G-Crumbrete Tiles.
