Book Concrete Structures 3rd Edition

Download or read book Concrete Structures 3rd Edition written by Zahid Ahmad Siddiqi and published by Zahid Ahmad Siddiqi. This book was released on with total page 817 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is prepared according to the 2014 ACI Code for buildings and AASHTO LRFD Specifications for bridges. The units used throughout the presentation are the SI units, however, the expressions and examples are also given in US Customary units in the starting chapters to keep continuity with the traditional system of units. It is tried that the three main phases of structural design, namely load determination, design calculations and detailing are introduced to the beginner. This book is useful with the 2nd part of the same book. After the printing of the first and second editions, the comments send by colleagues, fellow engineers and students are acknowledged with thanks. Suggestions for further improvement of the presentation will be highly appreciated and will be incorporated in the future editions.

Book Analysis and Design Practice of Hydraulic Concrete Structures

Download or read book Analysis and Design Practice of Hydraulic Concrete Structures written by KARUNA MOY GHOSH and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2013-01-14 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive description of the analysis and design process of some hydraulic concrete structures designed to retain and contain aqueous liquid. The first edition discussed six types of structures of different functions, namely: (a) An underground sedimentation tank for sewage treatment.(b) An underground digestion tank for sludge treatment.(c) An underground reservoir to store fresh potable water.(d) An immersed highway tunnel under the river bed.(e) An indoor swimming pool of rectangular shape for public recreation.(f) A gravity dam across a valley for converting the valley into a fresh water reservoir. This Second Edition incorporates another type of hydraulic structure, namely spillway. The spillway structure plays a vital role in regulating the designed reservoir water level to meet the fluctuating demand of water supply for the generation of hydroelectricity, irrigation and water supply purposes in controlling the height of reservoir water level downstream of the river. The spillway structure subjected to seismic hydrodynamic pressure in addition to the hydrostatic pressure, has been analysed and designed in full compliance with Eurocodes EC 2: Part 1–1 and Part 3 as water-retaining structure. The other six structures have been analysed and designed with reference to the relevant clauses of codes of practice prescribed in Eurocodes 2 and BS 8007 and BS 8110. The book is designed to serve as a useful practical guide and a valuable reference for senior undergraduate students of civil engineering and postgraduate students specializing in structural design, as well as practising and consulting engineers involved in the design and execution of hydraulic concrete structures.

Book Reinforced Concrete Fundamentals

Download or read book Reinforced Concrete Fundamentals written by Phil M. Ferguson and published by Wiley. This book was released on 1991-01-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Fifth Edition maintains the basic Ferguson approach in which design procedures stem from and provide the basis for a clear understanding of the behavior of reinforced concrete. Behavior of reinforced concrete members and assemblages at every load stage is illustrated with illustrations and photos, and calculation models that relate to the physical behaviors are provided to help students and practitioners recognize and assess various design situations. To avoid confusion, many of the examples now use customary or English units, rather than SI units as in the Fourth Edition. This edition conforms to the technical changes in the '83 and '86 revisions to the ACI Building Code. In this edition, service load analysis of stresses, computuations of deflection and distribution of reinforcement to control crack widths have been incorporated with the sections that treat analysis and design of flexural members. Material relating to seismic design has been revised and expanded, and more emphasis has been placed on developing conceptual models for design.
