Book Design of Diversion Weirs

Download or read book Design of Diversion Weirs written by Rozgar Baban and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design of Diversion Weirs Small Scale Irrigation in Hot Climates Rozgar Baban In most developing countries, it is now realised that the most important factor in the success of the agricultural sector is the sustainability of irrigation projects. Diversion weirs are the most important components of these projects. The aim of this book is to teach step by step how to design diversion weirs. It encompasses all technical subjects required: site investigation, hydrological, hydraulic and structural analysis. Many numerical examples show how to relate engineering theories to applications. Cover illustration A diversion weir in Tanzania constructed by the farmers with technical assistance from the government.

Book DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR OPTIMUM DESIGN OF DIVERSION WEIRS

Download or read book DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR OPTIMUM DESIGN OF DIVERSION WEIRS written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A diversion weir is a headwork facility built across a river to raise the water level and to divert water for various purposes, such as irrigation, hydropower generation, etc. Diversion weirs with sidewise intakes are widely used in plain rivers. They are composed of many structural components which are designed for different purposes. In this thesis, a Windows-based, visual, user friendly program named WINDWEIR was developed in Visual Basic.NET programming language for the optimum design of a diversion weir with sidewise intake. It determines the overall dimensions of each of the components of the diversion weir and the total cost of the whole structure. It also performs stability analysis. It is such a flexible computer program that a design engineer can assess various dimensions of the structure from viewpoints of safety and economy by performing quick successive test runs to achieve an optimum solution among various alternatives.

Book Hydraulic Design of Side Weirs

Download or read book Hydraulic Design of Side Weirs written by R. W. P. May and published by Thomas Telford Publishing. This book was released on 2003 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Side weirs are widely used to divert or discharge flows from reservoirs, rivers, artificial channels and sewers. The hydraulic behaviour of this type of weir is complex and difficult to predict accurately using simple methods and the diversity of applictions of side weirs has the potential to complicate guidance. This manual covers the fundamental hydraulic principles and discusses the practical design issues separately for each main strcuture type.
