Book Hydraulic Structure Equipment and Water Data Acquisition Systems Volume II

Download or read book Hydraulic Structure Equipment and Water Data Acquisition Systems Volume II written by Jan Malan Jordaan and published by EOLSS Publications. This book was released on 2009-11-25 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hydraulic Structure, Equipment and Water Data Acquisition Systems is a component of Encyclopedia of Water Sciences, Engineering and Technology Resources in the global Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS), which is an integrated compendium of twenty one Encyclopedias. Hydraulic structures occupied a vital role in the development of civilization from the earliest recorded history up to the present, and undoubtedly will do so in the future. Humanity in ancient times settled mostly near perennial rivers, nomadic people frequented oases and springs, and to augment these natural ephemeral supplies, established societies built primitive dams and dug wells. This 4-volume set contains several chapters, each of size 5000-30000 words, with perspectives, applications and extensive illustrations. It carries state-of-the-art knowledge in the fields of Hydraulic Structure, Equipment and Water Data Acquisition Systems. In these volumes the historical origins, modern developments, and future perspectives in the field of water supply engineering are discussed. Various types of hydraulic structures, their associated equipment, and the various systems for collecting data are described. These four volumes are aimed at the following five major target audiences: University and College Students Educators, Professional Practitioners, Research Personnel and Policy Analysts, Managers, and Decision Makers, NGOs and GOs.

Book A High Speed Data Acquisition System for Fluid Mechanics Measurements Classic Reprint

Download or read book A High Speed Data Acquisition System for Fluid Mechanics Measurements Classic Reprint written by L. P. Purtell and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-18 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A High-Speed Data Acquisition System for Fluid Mechanics Measurements The computer had been employed successfully even for the time averaged measurements required by the earlier approaches to turbulent flow, especially for the more complicated correlations and statistical variables.12 However, now their use has become almost mandatory to perform the highly complex functions of educing the ordered motions from time varying measurements of many simultaneous signals. In some instances the signals are recorded in real time, then digitized and analyzed later on a main frame computer. However, the increasing sophistication of minicomputers has led to widespread oh-site collection and analysis of data. Book A Computerized Data Acquisition Interface to Measure Turbulent Shear Flow Velocity Profiles Behind a Grid of Parallel Rods

Download or read book A Computerized Data Acquisition Interface to Measure Turbulent Shear Flow Velocity Profiles Behind a Grid of Parallel Rods written by Samuel A Robinson (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A design study was conducted to develop a computerized, electromechanical data acquisition system interface to instrumentation/apparatus measuring turbulent shear flow velocity profiles behind a grid of parallel rods. Data on profiles generated behind two such grids was acquired via a digital controller and a user-built interface to the data acquisition system. Conclusions were drawn that the digital controller did provide a superior means in collecting/reducing data than existed before, that the interface did provide an enhanced capability in documenting fluid flow phenomena under such test conditions, and that the experience did indicate future work in automating instrumentation/apparatus electromechanical components.
