This book was released on 1982 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report contains recent developments in three aspects of joints in advanced fibrous composite structures: (1) nonlinear analysis of adhesively- bonded stepped-lap joints and doublers, (2) multirow mechanically fastened joints in aerospace structures, and (3) nonlinear analysis of combined bonded and bolted joints. The methods developed include nonlinearities needed for metal structures as well as those for composites. The analysis are based on continuum mechanics techniques and have been coded into three Fortran IV digital computer programs A4EI, A4EJ, and A4EK respectively. The report contains explanations of the derivations of the solutions as well as sample worked problems to illustrate both the capabilities of the programs and the behavior characteristics of the real structures.

Book excerpt: A computing technique was developed to determine the feasibility of combining the several batch computer programs for the analysis of composite joints into one interactive computer program utilizing graphics display. This approach proved successful and produced a design tool for the analysis of bolted or bonded composite joints. The program utilizes the software package provided by TEKTRONIX for the graphics display. The user works at the remote on-line graphics terminal in conjunction with the main computing facilities which contain the program. The final report discusses the summary, conclusion, and recommendations of the work performed. The User's Manual and Programming Manual discusses the input, output, and function of the program.

Book Stress Analysis and Strength Prediction of Adhesively Bonded Composite Joints

Download or read book Stress Analysis and Strength Prediction of Adhesively Bonded Composite Joints written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The state of the art in the stress analysis and strength prediction of adhesively bonded composite joints is presented. A generalized coordinate finite element analysis based on rectangular, cylindrical and wedge solid elements is developed and utilized for the three-dimensional analysis of composite bonded joints. The comparison of results between 2-D and 3-D bonded joint analysis tools are made and their limitations are discussed. Further, the submodeling technique available in the commercial finite element package ABAQUS is explored to study the three-dimensional stress field in the vicinity of joint edges and debond cracks. The series of bolted joint design codes BONJO developed by Lockheed are incorporated into a PC based Bolted and Bonded Joint (BBJ) design methodology. The Bolted and Bonded Joint design tool is made more informative and user-friendly through the use of Windows 95TM based Graphic User Interfaces (GUIs) fully integrated with a material database and on-line help.

Book Analysis of Bolted and Bonded Composite

Download or read book Analysis of Bolted and Bonded Composite written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the analysis and design of bonded and bolted composite joints, certain input data are required that are not readily available. Many engineering hours at the depots are expended in obtaining the required information. Even when the data are obtained, the accuracy of it is sometimes questionable. The availability of this information in a computerized database would greatly facilitate composite joint analysis and design. The work described in this report involved an extensive search of the technical literature for adhesive and composite material property data as well as bonded and bolted joint properties. The data collected in the literature search were tabulated into a user friendly format for ready retrieval. The data in this tabulation include, in addition to material properties, discussions of fastener and joint design parameters, loading and environmental effects and test methods.

Book Structural Adhesive Joints

Download or read book Structural Adhesive Joints written by K. L. Mittal and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-09-01 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely book on structural adhesives joints showcases all the pertinent topics and will be of immense value to scientists and engineers in many industries. Most structures are comprised of a number of individual parts or components which have to be connected to form a system with integral load transmission path. The structural adhesive bonding represents one of the most enabling technologies to fabricate most complex structural configurations involving advanced materials (e.g. composites) for load-bearing applications. Quite recently there has been a lot of activity in harnessing nanotechnology (use of nanomaterials) in ameliorating the existing or devising better performing structural adhesives. The 10 chapters by subject matter experts look at the following issues: Surface preparation for structural adhesive joints (SAJ) Use of nanoparticles in enhancing performance of SAJ Optimization of SAJ Durability aspects of SAJ Debonding of SAJ Fracture mechanics of SAJ Failure analysis of SAJ Damage behavior in functionally graded SAJ Impact, shock and vibration characteristics of composites for SAJ Delamination arrest methods in SAJ
