Book Wind Tunnels and Experimental Fluid Dynamics Research

Download or read book Wind Tunnels and Experimental Fluid Dynamics Research written by Jorge Colman Lerner and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-07-27 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book "Wind Tunnels and Experimental Fluid Dynamics Research" is comprised of 33 chapters divided in five sections. The first 12 chapters discuss wind tunnel facilities and experiments in incompressible flow, while the next seven chapters deal with building dynamics, flow control and fluid mechanics. Third section of the book is dedicated to chapters discussing aerodynamic field measurements and real full scale analysis (chapters 20-22). Chapters in the last two sections deal with turbulent structure analysis (chapters 23-25) and wind tunnels in compressible flow (chapters 26-33). Contributions from a large number of international experts make this publication a highly valuable resource in wind tunnels and fluid dynamics field of research.

Book Wind Tunnel Balances

Download or read book Wind Tunnel Balances written by Klaus Hufnagel and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-04-06 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook helps to design and build any kind of force measurement equipment for the use in a wind tunnel. It is of interest to those who want to build multi-component force measurement sensors for other applications as well. The book describes the basic relations for the design and presents handbook formulas that can be used to perform a primary determination of main dimensions of a specified multi-component force sensor. This Handbook describes material and manufacturing particularities, instrumentation techniques and methods for the compensation of environmental influences. It also discusses calibration problems of multi-component force sensors and methods for the evaluation of the data.

Book Description and Calibration of a Wall Balance System for a 15 by 20 inch Subsonic Wind Tunnel

Download or read book Description and Calibration of a Wall Balance System for a 15 by 20 inch Subsonic Wind Tunnel written by J. Ottensoser and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A three-component strain gage type wall balance for a 15 by 20-inch Subsonic Wind Tunnel has been built and calibrated. The balance construction was based on a Honeywell Corporation design and is considered proprietary information. This system uses a set of three concentric rings on each side of the two walls of the tunnel test section to measure lift, drag and pitching moment. Maximum loads are + or - 300 pounds in lift and + or - 50 pounds in drag. Calibration results indicate the balance is reliable to within 1 percent in lift and drag, but moment results are only fair and at best the accuracy is only within 5 percent. Additional keywords include: U/A Reports, Dynamic pressure, Two dimensional tunnels.

Book Wind Tunnel Test Techniques

Download or read book Wind Tunnel Test Techniques written by Colin Britcher and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2022-12-15 with total page 670 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wind Tunnel Test Techniques: Design and Use of Low- and High-Speed Wind Tunnels provides an up-to-date treatment of the topic. Beginning with a brief history of wind tunnels and its types and uses, the book goes on to cover subsonic, supersonic and hypersonic wind tunnel design and construction, calibration, boundary corrections, flow quality assessment, pressure surveys, and dynamic testing. It also focuses on wind tunnel facilities, making it useful for both the designer and operator. Engineers and graduate students in aerospace, automotive and similar programs will find this book useful in their work with experimental aerodynamics, gas dynamics, facility design and performance. Deals with a broad range of flow speeds in wind tunnels, from low speed to high speed Provides a discussion of similarity laws as well as material on statistical analysis Includes coverage on facility-to-facility and facility-to-CFD correlation Presents advanced topics such as cryogenic wind tunnels, ground simulation in automotive testing, and propulsion testing
