Book Models for Wind Tunnel Tests Based on Additive Manufacturing Technology

Download or read book Models for Wind Tunnel Tests Based on Additive Manufacturing Technology written by Weijun Zhu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2023-12-15 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book systematically introduces design and fabrication of physical models for wind tunnel tests based on additive manufacturing technology, including model design technology, model fabrication process, strengthening technology, etc. On this basis, it introduces in detail the specific implementation process of commonly used models, e.g., force measurement models, pressure measurement models, elastic models, and flutter models. This book mainly provides references for researchers and engineers who are engaged in aircraft design, experimental fluid mechanics, and additive manufacturing technology research.

Book Design and Fabrication of Instrumented Composite Airfoils for a Cryogenic Wind Tunnel Model

Download or read book Design and Fabrication of Instrumented Composite Airfoils for a Cryogenic Wind Tunnel Model written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two instrumented horizontal stabilizers and one instrumented vertical stabilizer were designed and fabricated for testing on the Pathfinder 1 (PF-1) Transport Model in the NASA Langley Research Center's National Transonic Facility (NTF). Two different designs were employed: the horizontal stabilizer utilized a metal spar and fiberglass overwrap and the vertical stabilizer was made of all fiberglass. All design requirements were met in terms of design loads, airfoil tolerances, surface finish, orifice hole quality, and proof-of-concept tests. Pressure tubing installation was found to be easier for these concepts as compared to methods used in conventional metallic models. Ease of repair was found to be a principal advantage in that some fabrication problems were overcome by reapplying fiberglass cloth and/or epoxy to damaged areas. Also, fabrication costs were judged to be lower when compared to the more conventional design fabrication costs. Book Design Fabrication and Test of a Wind Tunnel Model for an Efficient All Movable Fin Design for Military Aircraft

Download or read book Design Fabrication and Test of a Wind Tunnel Model for an Efficient All Movable Fin Design for Military Aircraft written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report results from a contract tasking University of Manchester as follows: A generic all-movable vertical tail will be developed to investigate Diverging Flexible Vertical Tail Technology (DFVT). This model will be a modified version of an existing (U. of Manchester) carbon fiber composite transonic model. This model will have its boundary conditons adjusted based upon results of a previous analytical optimization study that examined weight, performance and observable benefits. A number of different parameters including: Mach number- both sub and supersonic speeds, attachment position, and variable attachment stiffnesses will also be examined experimentally in the wind tunnel at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
