Book Liquid Piston Engines

Download or read book Liquid Piston Engines written by Aman Gupta and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-07-24 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The only book available on liquid piston engines, covering the design, application, maintenance, troubleshooting, and advances in the technology. Whether used in irrigation, cooling nuclear reactors, pumping wastewater, or any number of other uses, the liquid piston engine is a much more efficient, effective, and "greener" choice than many other choices available to industry. Especially if being used in conjunction with solar panels, the liquid piston engine can be extremely cost-effective and has very few, if any, downsides or unwanted side effects. As industries all over the world become more environmentally conscious, the liquid piston engine will continue growing in popularity as a better choice, and its low implementation and operational costs will be attractive to end-users in developing countries. This is the only comprehensive, up-to-date text available on liquid piston engines. The first part focuses on the identification, design, construction and testing of the liquid piston engine, a simple, yet elegant, device which has the ability to pump water but which can be manufactured easily without any special tooling or exotic materials and which can be powered from either combustion of organic matter or directly from solar heating. It has been tested, and the authors recommend how it might be improved upon. The underlying theory of the device is also presented and discussed. The second part deals with the performance, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the engine. This volume is the only one of its kind, a groundbreaking examination of a fascinating and environmentally friendly technology which is useful in many industrial applications. It is a must-have for any engineer, manager, or technician working with pumps or engines.

Book Pistons and engine testing

Download or read book Pistons and engine testing written by MAHLE International GmbH and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-03-08 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ever-increasing demands placed on combustion engines are just as great when it comes to this centerpiece—the piston. Achieving less weight or friction, or even greater wear resistance, requires in-depth knowledge of the processes taking place inside the engine, suitable materials, and appropriate design and manufacturing processes for pistons, including the necessary testing measures. It is no longer possible for professionals in automotive engineering to manage without specific expertise of this kind, whether they work in the field of design, development, testing, or maintenance. This technical book answers these questions in detail and in a very clear and comprehensible way. In this second, revised edition, every chapter has been revised and expanded. The chapter on “Engine testing”, for example, now include extensive results in the area of friction power loss measurement and lube oil consumption measurement.

Book Combustion in Piston Engines

Download or read book Combustion in Piston Engines written by A. K. Oppenheim and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combustion in Piston Engines presents the technique of pressure diagnostics to measure the fuel consumption in an engine cylinder and to monitor the operation of micro-electronic systems for its control. It provides a recipe for bridging the gap between the hydrocarbon-fed combustion technology of automotive powerplants of today and electro-magnetic technologies of the future. The author proposes and introduces a model for the design of a MECC (micro-electronically controlled combustion) systems to modulate combustion in engine cylinders. This system yields significant reduction in the formation of pollutants and the consumption of fuel, so that, eventually, emissions using any clean hydrocarbon fuel will be acceptable and gas mileage could be doubled.

Book Internal Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice second edition revised Volume 2

Download or read book Internal Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice second edition revised Volume 2 written by Charles Fayette Taylor and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1985-03-19 with total page 804 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This revised edition of Taylor's classic work on the internal-combustion engine incorporates changes and additions in engine design and control that have been brought on by the world petroleum crisis, the subsequent emphasis on fuel economy, and the legal restraints on air pollution. The fundamentals and the topical organization, however, remain the same. The analytic rather than merely descriptive treatment of actual engine cycles, the exhaustive studies of air capacity, heat flow, friction, and the effects of cylinder size, and the emphasis on application have been preserved. These are the basic qualities that have made Taylor's work indispensable to more than one generation of engineers and designers of internal-combustion engines, as well as to teachers and graduate students in the fields of power, internal-combustion engineering, and general machine design.

Book Designing and Modeling of Piston in Combustion Engines

Download or read book Designing and Modeling of Piston in Combustion Engines written by Jaume Anguera Llort and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this final project is to design and calculate a piston for a large two-stroke diesel engine. They are used in railroad, marine or stationary services. They are very big and heavy, all the parts have to be very well studied and calculated. Modelling process has different parts but it has to be understood what we want to achieve, the optimal shape of the piston to obtain maximum performance. The piston itself has four different main parts that should be taken into account: the crown, piston rings, hubs and the skirt. The crown takes a very important part in the whole process. It is the part that supports most of the loads and heat. As a consequence is the one that suffers the hardest deformation. The piston object of study is very large, it has to be thought a refrigeration system inside the crown to relief some of the heat stresses. As the object is to see under certain conditions how the piston works, at first it has to be understood how work the different parts mentioned before. So that we can get the optimal and correct results we are looking for. When working, the piston is subjected to a treatment of thermal stresses and force stresses. Both of them acting against the piston and causing a deformation on it. At first, the working conditions have to be very well defined. That way the results obtained will be the most accurate to reality as possible. The materials used for the construction of it also play a very important role in the whole process. Given different materials the deformations and the heat flow will be, of course, different. In the modelling process has to be chosen the one that gives better results taking into account different factors.
