Book Electro Hydraulic Actuation Systems

Download or read book Electro Hydraulic Actuation Systems written by J. Jaidev Vyas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-09-01 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book serves as a unique integrated platform, which not only describes the design methodology of electro-hydraulic actuation systems but also provides insights into the design of the servo valve, which is the most important component in the system. It presents a step-by-step design process, comparative tables, illustrative figures, and detailed explanations. The book focuses on the design and testing of electro-hydraulic actuation systems, which are increasingly being used in motion control applications, particularly in those where precision actuation at high operational rates is of prime importance. It describes in detail the design philosophy of such high-performance systems, presenting a system used as a physical test setup together with experimental results to corroborate the calculations. Of particular interest are the electro-hydraulic servo valves that form the heart of these actuations. These valves are complex and not much data is available in open literature due to OEM propriety issues. In this context, the book discusses the elaborate mathematical models that have been derived and an approach to validate the mathematical models with test results. Presenting the complex methodology in simple language, it will prove to be a valuable resource for students, researchers, and professional engineers alike.

Theoretical and experimental validations are explained, and examples provided. Based on the authors' cutting-edge research, this work is an important resource for engineers, researchers, and students working in EHS.

Book Design and Development of Multi Lane Smart Electromechanical Actuators

Download or read book Design and Development of Multi Lane Smart Electromechanical Actuators written by Fawaz Yahya Annaz and published by IET. This book was released on 2014-03 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The unavoidable element in the development of flight control systems (to date) has been in hydraulic actuators. This has been the case primarily because of their proven reliability and the lack of alternative technologies. However, the technology to build electromechanically actuated primary flight control systems is now available, which may mark the end of the hydraulic actuation systems - an important step for the development of the future 'all-electric' aircraft.

Book Design and Modeling of a New Electro Hydraulic Actuator

Download or read book Design and Modeling of a New Electro Hydraulic Actuator written by Vladimir Pastrakuljic and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis addresses the issues of design and mathematical model identification of an advanced hydraulic system referred to as Electro Hydraulic Actuator (EHA). In the design part, insights into system design methodology are presented and used for the EHA prototype manufacturing. To get better knowledge of the system behavior, extensive open loop tests were performed. Test results are presented in the time and frequency domain, and it was concluded that system behavior is nonlinear. In the modeling part, a nonlinear mathematical model of the EHA is derived. Some of the unknown model parameters had to be identified experimentally by optimization. The last step in the system mathematical modeling was open and closed loop model validation using the experimental data. Proposed nonlinear mathematical model gives good correspondence with experimental data and can be used for system studying or controller design. Performed test show that the EHA system has high positioning accuracy (0.01mm), fairly high bandwidth (23 Hz with 20kg inertial load) and is easy to control. It shows significant benefits when compared to conventional hydraulic systems in the areas of control, efficiency and physical dimensions.

Book Research and Demonstration of a Digital Flight Control System Electro hydraulic Servo Control Valve Actuator Experimental Model

Download or read book Research and Demonstration of a Digital Flight Control System Electro hydraulic Servo Control Valve Actuator Experimental Model written by D. S. Seidel and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report discusses the applicability of various electrohydraulic servo valve (and servo actuator) configurations for use in digital flight control systems. The research and de velopmental effort was conducted in five phases: Initial research and analysis, interface study, choice of experimental model configuration, experimental model design analysis, and experimental model physical design and evaluation. During the initial research and analysis phase, three servo actuator configurations capable of response to serial digital information and one servo actuator configuration capable of response to parallel digital information were investigated. The configurations responsive to serial digital information were termed incremental servo actuators and operated essentially in a bangbang mode during each actuation cycle. The configurations responsive to parallel digital information were termed parallel binary servo actuators (PBSA). The PBSA configuration discussed in this report is an analog servo actuator configuration utilizing a multicoil torque motor for binary weighting and summation operations. (Author).

Book Modelling and Identification of a Highly Integrated Electro hydraulic Energy Converter for Robotic Applications

Download or read book Modelling and Identification of a Highly Integrated Electro hydraulic Energy Converter for Robotic Applications written by Elmira Amrollah and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of the present work is to study the internal parameters of an integrated electro-hydraulic actuator (IEHA) for robotic applications, as well as identifying the influence of each parameter on the behaviour of the system, depending on the specified task to accomplish. Compactness of IEHA makes it difficult to measure the internal variables of the system, such as micro-pump's leakage, and internal pressure drop, while it is important to study the effect of configuring the internal variables on the behaviour and energy efficiency of the system, before modifying the latter in future prototypes. Hence, development of a model of the actuator will help us identify the different issues of the system and propose new solutions to improve its dynamic behaviour. The effectiveness of the developed virtual model allows for quick and accurate evaluation of the internal parameters early in the design and development stage. The mechanism and dynamic equations of IEHA are presented. The actuator is simulated firstly by implementing the dynamic models in MATLAB-Simulink environment, and secondly in MATLAB-SimHydraulics. The different parameters and hydraulic phenomena that play a crucial role in the performance of the system are discussed. Optimizing these parameters improves the mechanical energy efficiency, volumetric efficiency, and response time of the overall system. The concept of energy storage and its implementation in the architecture of IEHA is presented. Examples of periodic tasks (jumping, walking) are used to show how a good energy storage strategy could make the actuator autonomous and smaller in terms of necessary hydraulic sources.

Book On Motion Control of Linear Incremental Hydraulic Actuators

Download or read book On Motion Control of Linear Incremental Hydraulic Actuators written by Martin Hochwallner and published by Linköping University Electronic Press. This book was released on 2017-10-24 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Linear Incremental Hydraulic Actuators combine one or more short-stroke cylinders, and two or more engaging/disengaging mechanisms into one actuator with long, medium, or even unlimited stroke length. The motion of each single short-stroke actuator concatenated by the engaging/disengaging mechanisms forms the motion of the linear incremental hydraulic actuator. The patterns of how these motions are concatenated form the gaits of a specific linear incremental hydraulic actuator. Linear incremental hydraulic actuators may have more than one gait. In an application, the gaits may be combined to achieve optimal performance at various operating points. The distinguishing characteristic of linear incremental hydraulic actuators is the incremental motion. The term incremental actuator is seen as analogous to the incremental versus absolute position sensor. Incremental actuators realize naturally relative positioning. Incremental motion means also that the behavior does not depend on an absolute position but only on the relative position within a cycle or step. Incremental actuators may realize discrete incremental or continuous incremental motion. Discrete incremental actuators can only approach discrete positions, whereby stepper drives are one prominent example. In contrast, continuous incremental actuators may approach any position. Linear electric motors are one example of continuous incremental actuators. The actuator has no inherent limitation in stroke length, as every step or cycle adds only to the state at the beginning of the step or cycle and does not depend on the absolute position. This led to the alternative working title Hydraulic Infinite Linear Actuator. Linear incremental hydraulic actuator provides long stroke, high force, and linear motion and has the potential to decrease the necessary resource usage, minimize environmental impact, e.g. from potential oil spillage, extend the range of feasible products: longer, stiffer, better, etc. This thesis presents an analysis of the characteristics and properties of linear incremental hydraulic actuators as well as the gaits and possible realizations of some gaits. The gait for continuous, smooth motion with two cylinders is comprehensively studied and a control concept for the tracking problem is proposed. The control concept encapsulates the complexity of the linear incremental hydraulic actuator so that an application does not have to deal with it. One other gait, the ballistic gait, which realizes fast, energy-efficient motion, enabling energy recuperation is studied.
