Book Wind Tunnel Balances

Download or read book Wind Tunnel Balances written by Klaus Hufnagel and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-04-06 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook helps to design and build any kind of force measurement equipment for the use in a wind tunnel. It is of interest to those who want to build multi-component force measurement sensors for other applications as well. The book describes the basic relations for the design and presents handbook formulas that can be used to perform a primary determination of main dimensions of a specified multi-component force sensor. This Handbook describes material and manufacturing particularities, instrumentation techniques and methods for the compensation of environmental influences. It also discusses calibration problems of multi-component force sensors and methods for the evaluation of the data.

Book Design Study of a Strain Gauge Wind Tunnel Balance

Download or read book Design Study of a Strain Gauge Wind Tunnel Balance written by Michael John Concannon and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A three-component balance system for use in measuring drag and lift forces as well as pitching moments acting on a wind tunnel model is presently available in the Department of Aeronautics. The original manual counterweight readout procedure was considered obsolete from the standpoint of data acquisition; therefore, a revision was incorporated using strain gage load cells. The design and installation of the electrical readout system is described. Calibration procedures were devised and performed in order to develop a loading output matrix for use with a rapid data acquisition system and compatibility with an analog-digital computer program. Book Development of a Five component Strain gauge Balance for the DSTO Water Tunnel

Download or read book Development of a Five component Strain gauge Balance for the DSTO Water Tunnel written by Lincoln P. Erm and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report gives details of a five-component strain-gauge balance that has been developed to measure flow-induced loads on models in the DSTO water tunnel. The loads are very small and the balance was designed to measure side and normal forces, as well as rolling, pitching and yawing moments, within the ranges "25 N, "25 N, "0.1 N.m, "0.2 N.m and "0.2 N.m respectively. These loads are at least 2 to 3 orders of magnitude smaller than those typically measured on aircraft models in the low-speed wind tunnel at DSTO. The balance has not been designed to measure axial forces. Due to the small loads, it was necessary to use semi-conductor strain gauges on the balance. The five-component balance has been developed using similar design principles to a two-component balance developed earlier at DSTO for use in the water tunnel.

Book The Development of the Strain gage Balance System for the Supersonic Wind Tunnel at Lone Star Laboratory

Download or read book The Development of the Strain gage Balance System for the Supersonic Wind Tunnel at Lone Star Laboratory written by Robert M. Mains and published by . This book was released on 1946 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The general three-dimensional force problem can be solved by strain-gage measurements on an elastic system. In addition, the elastic system on which the measurements are made can be fitted into a supersonic wind tunnel of the size used at the Lone Star Laboratory. The points of measurement can be located very near to the model, in contrast with the usual wind-tunnel balances, and the use of an elastic measuring device eliminates the ordinary problems which arise from friction and deformation.
