This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Four new Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) groundwater monitoring wells were installed at the single-shell tank farm Waste Management Area (WMA) C in fiscal year 2003 to fulfill commitments for well installations proposed in the draft Hanford Federal Facility Agreement and Consent Order milestone M-24-00. Well 299-E27-22, installed upgradient, was drilled through the entire uppermost unconfined aquifer to the basalt and wells 299-E27-4, 299-E27-21 and 299-E27-23 were drilled approximately 40 feet into the uppermost unconfined aquifer and installed downgradient of the WMA. Specific objectives for these wells include monitoring the impact, if any, that potential releases from inside the WMA may have on current groundwater conditions (i.e., improved network coverage) and differentiating upgradient groundwater contamination from contaminants released at the WMA. This report supplies the information obtained during drilling, characterization, and installation of the four new groundwater monitoring wells. This document also provides a compilation of hydrogeologic and well construction information obtained during drilling, well development, aquifer testing, and sample collection/analysis activities.

Book Description of Work for the Installation of 3 Groundwater Wells at the 100 KR 4 and 200 ZP 1 Pump and Treat Remediation System FY2003 Cercla Drilling

Download or read book Description of Work for the Installation of 3 Groundwater Wells at the 100 KR 4 and 200 ZP 1 Pump and Treat Remediation System FY2003 Cercla Drilling written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This description of work (DOW) documents the requirements for three wells to be drilled and constructed in fiscal year 2003 as part of the 100 KR-4 and 200-ZP-1 groundwater Pump-and-Treat Remediation Facilities on the Hanford Site. Installation of these wells is to replace two existing extraction wells in the 100-KR-4 and 200-ZP-1 Pump-and Treat Systems, and the installation of one new monitoring well at 100-KR-4. Process design upgrades to the 100-K pump and treat system will not be covered in this document. A site plan view map of the 100-KR-4 Pump and Treat Facility is presented in Figure 8-1. A site map of the new well location at the 200-ZP-1 Pump and Treat Facility is in Figure 8-2. The proposed 100-KR-4 extraction well (C4117) will be located 4.6 meters (15 feet) southeast of existing extraction well 199-K-112A. The new monitoring well (C4120) will be approximately 300 meters (980 feet) northeast of 199-K-112A (Figure 8-1). The proposed 200-ZP-1 extraction well (C4119) will be located near extraction well 299-W15-33 (Figure 8-2). Construction parameters for the three wells will be based on existing wells and on geologic conditions encountered during drilling, and discussed in detail in Section 3.0. The 100-KR-4 Operable Unit contains numerous culturally sensitive areas. Because of these areas, access will be severely limited and off-road travel forbidden.

Book Borehole Data Package for the 216 S 10 Pond and Ditch Well 299 W26 13

Download or read book Borehole Data Package for the 216 S 10 Pond and Ditch Well 299 W26 13 written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One new Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) groundwater monitoring well was installed at the 216-S-10 pond and ditch during November and December 1999 in fulfillment of Tri-Party Agreement (Ecology 1996) milestone M-24-42. The well is 299-W26-13 and is located at the northeast corner to the 216-S-10 pond, southwest of 200 West Area. The well is a new downgradient well in the monitoring network. Figure 1 shows the locations of all wells in the 216-S-10 pond and ditch monitoring network. The new well was constructed to the specifications and requirements described in Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 173-160 and WAC 173-303, the groundwater monitoring plan for the 216-S-10 pond and ditch (Airhart et al. 1990), and the description of work for well drilling and installation. During drilling and construction of well 299-W26-13, sampling and analysis activities were done to support remedial action, closure decisions at treatment, storage and disposal facilities, and to confirm preliminary site conceptual models developed in the 200-CS-1 Work Plan (DOE/RL 1999). This document compiles information on the drilling and construction, well development, pump installation, and sediment and groundwater testing applicable to well 299-W26-13. Appendix A contains the Well Summary Sheet (as-built diagram), the Well Construction Summary Report, and the geologist's log. Appendix B contains results of field and laboratory determinations of physical and chemical properties of sediment samples. Appendix C contains borehole geophysical logs. Additional documentation concerning well construction is on file with Bechtel Hanford, Inc., Richland, Washington. English units are used in this report to describe drilling and well completion activities because that is the system of units used by drillers to measure and report depths and well construction details. Conversion to metric is made by multiplying feet by 0.3048 to obtain meters or multiplying inches by 2.54 to obtain centimeters.
