Book An analysis of risks and chances for the German automotive supplier industry within the Chinese market

Download or read book An analysis of risks and chances for the German automotive supplier industry within the Chinese market written by Felix Emmerich and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2008-06-27 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2008 in the subject Business economics - General, grade: 2,0, University of Cooperative Education (VWA Stuttgart (BA)), language: English, abstract: “China – big but not easy” (1) titled the Automotive Industries Magazine in its July 2005 issue, reporting about the German premium car manufacturer Audi, who is manufacturing in China since 1999. This simple statement breaks down the risks and opportunities for the German automotive supplier industry in China into two keywords. The first one is “big”: in the last decades, the eyes of the world’s automotive supplier industry have been directed to China, because it is promising to be the world’s biggest market soon. Given the fact that one fifth of mankind lives in China and its standard of living is rapidly improving, it is only a question of time until the promise becomes real. In addition to this enormous sales potential, the advantages of cheap labor and an improving level of technology and education show China’s attractive sourcing potential. The second one is “not easy”: exploiting this potential and taking part in the growth comes with a variety of challenges to the foreign suppliers: a completely different culture, a dynamic and highly competitive market and a political-legal system that favors its home industry over the foreigners – only to name a few. Although this paper is concerned with the German automotive suppliers in particular, it is inevitable to draw a complete picture of the country in general and the situation of the automotive manufacturers, which are in many areas the driving force behind the supplier’s activities. So the first chapters describe the market environment, progressing from the general to the specific and providing the framework necessary for the in-depth analysis of risks and opportunities. These are separated into internal and external aspects. Internal risks and opportunities derive from the weaknesses and strengths of a company itself. The external risks and opportunities in contrast can hardly be influenced by the suppliers as they are effects of the political and economical development. But the suppliers can develop strategies to adapt: using the opportunities and avoiding the risks! So, the aim of this paper is to show why China is such an important but difficult market for the German automotive suppliers and – as a conclusion – to give recommendations and strategies for being Successful in China. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book endeavors to take the conceptualization of the relationship between business, government and development in African countries to a new level. In the twenty-first century, the interests and operations of government and business inevitably intersect all over the African continent. No government, federal or state, can afford to ignore the needs of business. But what are these needs, how does business express its needs to government and what institutions organize government-business relations in African countries? How should government regulate business, or should it choose to let the markets rule? Government and Business Relations in Africa brings together many of sub-Saharan African leading scholars to address these critical questions. Business and Government Relations in Africa examines the key players in the game—federal and state governments and business groups—and the processes that govern the relationships between them. It looks at the regulatory regimes that have an impact on business and provides a number of case studies of the relationships between government and economic development around the African continent, highlighting different processes and practices. It shows the latest state of knowledge on the topic and will be of interest both to students at an advanced level, academics and reflective practitioners. It addresses the topics with regard to business-government relations and will be of interest to researchers, academics, policymakers, and students in the fields of African politics, comparative politics, public policy, business and politics, sustainable development and sustainability, economic development, and managerial economics.

Book The automotive industry in Germany Development of energy efficiency

Download or read book The automotive industry in Germany Development of energy efficiency written by Daniel Bierbrauer and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2016-06-24 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2015 in the subject Sociology - Economy and Industry, grade: 1,0, University of Trier (Chair of Environmental and Urban Economics), course: European Environmental Economics, language: English, abstract: This paper will focus on the e-mobility and the evolution of electric vehicles and discuss environmental issues that are closely connected to the green movement. First a brief overview of the environmental aspects, related to the topic mentioned will be given. There will be a discussion not only on those aspects on a national level but also on a European and global level. Furthermore, this text will deal with the technology of the e-mobility and focus on exploring which economic, environmental and political aspects are connected with e-mobility and environmental concerns in Germany. Additionally, an international comparison between Germany and France, and Germany and the USA will be made; to enable the reader to know where these countries stand concerning sales of electric vehicles, political action and infrastructure of e-mobility. Over the past 40 years one can observe an evolution of “environmental concern” in several areas. This transition is called an evolution from environmentalism to green. There is a shift from emphasizing environmental problems to the underlying problems with our social, economic, technical or legal system. Further, the geographical focus changes from local problems to global issues. There has been a gradual change in the attitude towards business. From the business as the core of the problem to the business as a part of the solution to problems can be observed as well. From a marketing point of view one can observe the emerging importance of green awareness in the media during the late 80s. It is argued that a change in consumption behaviour of consumers led to the reaction of the producers. Moreover, since the early 1990s, more than 85% of the multinational companies in Europe have adapted themselves to this green movement by changing their way of production. In this connection, not just specific sectors in the European economy have been affected by this adjustment process, but almost every line of businesses. Technological change is denoted as a possible solution to some negative environmental effects. In the same context it is added that new technologies also may introduce new environmental issues, such that the strategic management towards sustainability became increasingly important.

Book Analysis and evaluation of chosen resources of Volkswagen in Germany and in respect of the Indian minicar market and the role of Suzuki as a Joint Venture prospect

Download or read book Analysis and evaluation of chosen resources of Volkswagen in Germany and in respect of the Indian minicar market and the role of Suzuki as a Joint Venture prospect written by Jan Kubik and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2011-02-28 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Operations Research, grade: 1,0, Munich University of Applied Sciences, language: English, abstract: Volkswagen Group is based in Wolfsburg, Germany, ranks among the world’s leading automobile manufacturer and is the largest carmaker in Europe. Therefore the Group posses 11.3 percent share of the world passenger car market and holds 20.9 percent of the European automobile market. The Volkswagen Group with its nine brands (Audi, SEAT, Škoda, Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Scania) offers a broad product range from low-consumption small cars to luxury class vehicles. For simplicity reasons the Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft (as parent company of the Volkswagen group) is referred to as Volkswagen or VW where as the whole Volkswagen Group is either referred to as Volkswagen (VW) Group or Group within this paper. Despite the Group’s international alignment it is currently only slightly represented in India. As it has entered the Indian passenger car market ten years ago, significantly later than its Japanese and American competitors, its current market share amounts only to two percent. Because potential customers are increasing, the automotive industry is getting more dynamical and international and government’s politics are focusing on economic growth, India could become the future key market to the automotive industry. Due to the eminently strong growth of the Indian main street and the proceeding social change, as the younger generation wants to go for a distinguished career, especially the Indian minicar market’s (IMM) potential is higher than ever before. As Volkswagen Group is alive to the importance of this market but lacking in appropriate knowledge how to produce cheapest cars in large-scale production, it considers strengthening the cooperation with Suzuki Motor Corporation and Volkswagen by building a Joint Venture (JV). Thus, the already existing cross share- holding as shown in Appendix A could evolve into a new common entity. This paper analyses, appraises and evaluates in what way this strategy is promising for Volkswagen and how far Suzuki is an appropriate partner. Therefore, this assignment contributes to the assessment of the strategy’s prospect of success. Therefore, Appendix B was used partly as framework in this paper. Firstly, Volkswagen Group’s vision and history is epitomised and its objectives are outlined. Secondly, chosen resources of Volkswagen are revealed (2) and it is analysed how far they are transferable to the mentioned market and to which extent the JV with Suzuki Motor ...
