Book excerpt: Saints Who Left Descendents is a book written to help the reader find his or her Saints in their background. The idea is to find some sort of Ancestor, a Saint or any nobility from Europe and match that Ancestor with one in the book. In the book there are about 110 Saints and a listing for each one includes Descendents who are nobility, royalty, or saints, and also a section on Ancestors. There is a listing of the family of the Saint, parents and siblings, as well as a listing of a biography that explains what the Saint did to get raised to the altars. The Saints are arranged by century, and at the beginning of the chapter is a time line and a listing of the Popes that served during that century. The author is an engineer who passed the mensa test and has studied genealogy for years. He is a member of the International Society of Charlemagne, the General Society of Mayflower Descendents, the Sons of the American Revolution and many other Genealogy based Societies.

Book How to Hang a Witch

Download or read book How to Hang a Witch written by Adriana Mather and published by Ember. This book was released on 2017-09-12 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The #1 New York Times bestseller! It’s the Salem Witch Trials meets Mean Girls in this New York Times bestselling novel from one of the descendants of Cotton Mather, where the trials of high school start to feel like a modern-day witch hunt for a teen with all the wrong connections to Salem’s past. Salem, Massachusetts, is the site of the infamous witch trials and the new home of Samantha Mather. Recently transplanted from New York City, Sam and her stepmother are not exactly welcomed with open arms. Sam is the descendant of Cotton Mather, one of the men responsible for those trials—and almost immediately, she becomes the enemy of a group of girls who call themselves the Descendants. And guess who their ancestors were? If dealing with that weren’t enough, Sam also comes face to face with a real, live (well, technically dead) ghost. A handsome, angry ghost who wants Sam to stop touching his stuff. But soon Sam discovers she is at the center of a centuries-old curse affecting anyone with ties to the trials. Sam must come to terms with the ghost and find a way to work with the Descendants to stop a deadly cycle that has been going on since the first accused witch was hanged. If any town should have learned its lesson, it’s Salem. But history may be about to repeat itself. “It’s like Mean Girls meets history class in the best possible way.” —Seventeen Magazine “Mather shines a light on the lessons the Salem Witch Trials can teach us about modern-day bullying—and what we can do about it.” —Bustle “Strikes a careful balance of creepy, fun, and thoughtful.” —NPR I am utterly addicted to Mather’s electric debut. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, twisting and turning with ghosts, witches, an ancient curse, and—sigh—romance. It’s beautiful. Haunting. The characters are vivid and real. I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down.” —Jennifer Niven, bestselling author of All the Bright Places

Book An Elementary Approach To Design And Analysis Of Algorithms

Download or read book An Elementary Approach To Design And Analysis Of Algorithms written by Lekh Rej Vermani and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2019-05-29 with total page 534 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'The book under review is an interesting elaboration that fills the gaps in libraries for concisely written and student-friendly books about essentials in computer science … I recommend this book for anyone who would like to study algorithms, learn a lot about computer science or simply would like to deepen their knowledge … The book is written in very simple English and can be understood even by those with limited knowledge of the English language. It should be emphasized that, despite the fact that the book consists of many examples, mathematical formulas and theorems, it is very hard to find any mistakes, errors or typos.'zbMATHIn computer science, an algorithm is an unambiguous specification of how to solve a class of problems. Algorithms can perform calculation, data processing and automated reasoning tasks. As an effective method, an algorithm can be expressed within a finite amount of space and time and in a well-defined formal language for calculating a function. Starting from an initial state and initial input (perhaps empty), the instructions describe a computation that, when executed, proceeds through a finite number of well-defined successive states, eventually producing 'output' and terminating at a final ending state. The transition from one state to the next is not necessarily deterministic; some algorithms, known as randomized algorithms, incorporate random input. This book introduces a set of concepts in solving problems computationally such as Growth of Functions; Backtracking; Divide and Conquer; Greedy Algorithms; Dynamic Programming; Elementary Graph Algorithms; Minimal Spanning Tree; Single-Source Shortest Paths; All Pairs Shortest Paths; Flow Networks; Polynomial Multiplication, to ways of solving NP-Complete Problems, supported with comprehensive, and detailed problems and solutions, making it an ideal resource to those studying computer science, computer engineering and information technology.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Except for this preface, this study is completely self-contained. It is intended to serve both as an introduction to Quantification Theory and as an exposition of new results and techniques in "analytic" or "cut-free" methods. We use the term "analytic" to apply to any proof procedure which obeys the subformula principle (we think of such a procedure as "analysing" the formula into its successive components). Gentzen cut-free systems are perhaps the best known example of ana lytic proof procedures. Natural deduction systems, though not usually analytic, can be made so (as we demonstrated in [3]). In this study, we emphasize the tableau point of view, since we are struck by its simplicity and mathematical elegance. Chapter I is completely introductory. We begin with preliminary material on trees (necessary for the tableau method), and then treat the basic syntactic and semantic fundamentals of propositional logic. We use the term "Boolean valuation" to mean any assignment of truth values to all formulas which satisfies the usual truth-table conditions for the logical connectives. Given an assignment of truth-values to all propositional variables, the truth-values of all other formulas under this assignment is usually defined by an inductive procedure. We indicate in Chapter I how this inductive definition can be made explicit-to this end we find useful the notion of a formation tree (which we discuss earlier).
