The title Doing Double Dutch evokes a popular rope-skipping game in which two people turn two long jump ropes in opposite directions while a third person jumps them. Klaas öffnete das Fenster und sagte zu Uilenspiegel: "Du mein Sohn mit der Haube, sieh die Mutter Sonne, die da kommt, das Land Flandern zu grüßen. Da sagte Soetkin: "Klaas, mein Gatte, du predigst einem Tauben; komm trinken, mein Sohn." Und die Mutter bot dem Neugeborenen die schönen Trinkgefäße der Natur."
