My testimony is based on the preliminary results of work we have done in response to a legislative mandate included in the Floyd D. Spence National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2001, which required us to determine the reliability of the services current and projected inventory of historic properties and the availability of data on the cost of maintaining and repairing these properties. Before discussing our specific observations, I would like to briefly summarize the key points in my statement.
