Download or read book Delta Evolution in the Eureka Sound Group Western Axel Heiberg Island written by Brian David Ricketts and published by Calgary, Alta. : Institute of Sedimentary and Petroleum Geology, Geological Survey of Canada. This book was released on 1991 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Eureka Sound Group in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago is significant because it provides the record of sedimentation and basin evolution during a major tectonic event, the Eurekan Orogeny. This report deals with Eurekan rocks on the west side of Axel Heiberg Island, ranging in age from possibly middle Campanian to Middle Eocene. Emphasis is placed on the changes in patterns of sedimentation that took place during this period. Significant resources of coal occur in Tertiary rocks throughout the Arctic, estimates of which are presented. Details of coal seams from specific sections are provided in an appendix.

Download or read book Paleocene Pliocene Deltaic to Inner Shelf Palynostratigraphic Zonation Depositional Environments and Paleoclimates in the Imperial Adgo F 28 Well Beaufort Mackenzie Basin written by Geoffrey Norris and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Describes results of a study to document the palynological record in a hydrocarbon exploration well that penetrated 3,200 metres of sediments through Tertiary strata in the Mackenzie Delta area. The result is a pollen distribution analysis that will serve as a standard for Tertiary sequences anywhere in the Arctic and subarctic regions of the world. Over 200 species were analyzed to produce the resulting zonation. The fossils studied also provide valuable information about the environments in which the deltaic and associated marine shelf sediments were deposited, and record the progressively cooling climatic conditions. Systematic taxonomic descriptions of species new to science or new to the area are included.
