She was both popular and extremely prolific, writing 23 novels, 39 short stories and several collections of poetry throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As a critic she promoted the work of Ezra Pound and the Imagist poets, and the novelist Dorothy Richardson, among others. She also wrote works of philosophy and was involved in the key issues of her day, writing pamphlets for the suffrage movement, propogating psycho-analytic thought, and she visited Belgium as part of an ambulance unit at the start of WWI. This novel was first published in 1910 and includes 11 full-page illustrations by American illustrator Arthur I Keller (1867-1924).
