Download or read book Sustainability and transformation plans and partnerships written by Lewis Pickett and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NHS sustainability and transformation partnerships are a mechanism for delivering the NHS Five Year Forward View (5YFV) and other national priorities for the NHS in England. The 5YFV, published in October 2014, was a collective vision for how the health service needed to change between 2015/16 and 2020/21. Forty-four sustainability and transformation partnerships now exist covering the whole of England, although they vary considerably in the size of the area they cover and the populations they serve. Each of the forty-four footprints are separate partnerships made up of NHS organisations, including clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), NHS trusts and foundation trusts and primary care services, as well as local authorities. This House of Commons Library briefing covers the context in which STPs have been developed, their funding and accountability arrangements as well as their progress so far. A key role of these partnerships was the creation of local blueprints for delivering the 5 ...

Book excerpt: Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs) - the 44 regionally specific blueprints for improving health and social care services and finances for the coming five years - are taking shape, and final versions are expected to be submitted in the coming weeks. With this in mind, the Nuffield Trust and the Healthcare Financial Management Association recently held a workshop for STP leaders that was designed to help those involved in STP 'footprints to develop their plans. We have drawn together insights from the workshop, from members of our learning networks for hospital CEOs and CCG accountable officers, and from a series of conversations with other STP leads. We have also reviewed a number of draft plans. This discussion paper reflects the work in progress from one third of STP areas, as captured in July and August 2016. It shows that the scale of the STP process is large and ambitious, and the speed with which plans are being pulled together is astonishing. So far, the plans are n ...

Book Planning and Transformation

Download or read book Planning and Transformation written by Philip Harrison and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2007-09-12 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Planning and Transformation provides a comprehensive view of planning under political transition in South Africa, offering an accessible resource for both students and researchers in an international and a local audience. In the years after the 1994 transition to democracy in South Africa, planners believed they would be able to successfully promote a vision of integrated, equitable and sustainable cities, and counter the spatial distortions created by apartheid. This book covers the experience of the planning community, the extent to which their aims were achieved, and the hindering factors. Although some of the factors affecting planning have been context-specific, the nature of South Africa’s transition and its relationship to global dynamics have meant that many of the issues confronting planners in other parts of the world are echoed here. Issues of governance, integration, market competitiveness, sustainability, democracy and values are significant, and the particular nature of the South African experience lends new insights to thinking on these questions, exploring the possibilities of achievement in the planning field.

Book Successful Change Management in Health Care

Download or read book Successful Change Management in Health Care written by Annette Chowthi-Williams and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2022-03-03 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Change is frequent in healthcare, yet change management is often far from perfect. This book considers the complexity of change within large organisations, explores existing models of change and emphasises the vital role of emotional and cognitive readiness in successful change management. Despite the plethora of organisational change management approaches used in healthcare, the success rate of change in organisations can be as low as 30 percent. New thinking about change management is required to improve success in service development, improvement and innovation. Arguing that emotional and cognitive readiness for change requires engagement with the people involved, and a thorough understanding of areas of friction and potential challenge, this book also delves into the neglected issue of emotion, examining emotional labour and emotion and change. It investigates how human emotion can be incorporated into Change Management Models, alongside and intertwined with cognitive approaches, to support effective change. Using the NHS as a central case study, this book incorporates examples of actual change from a range of healthcare settings from acute to primary care, enabling readers to see how Change Management Models can be adapted and utilised in practice. This is an essential read for students, as future change leaders, and practitioners and managers leading and managing change in healthcare.

Book excerpt: This document, set out in the form of questions and answers, is for teams developing Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs) in each of the 44 footprint areas, and the statutory organisations which form part of them. Local statutory bodies are responsible for engaging and consulting on their proposals, and the relevant legal duties around engagement and consultation are set out in section 4 and Annex A. Book Surviving Work in Healthcare

Download or read book Surviving Work in Healthcare written by Elizabeth Cotton and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2017-03-08 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book takes as its starting point the crisis of healthcare in the UK: impossible health targets managed through command and control management and a stomach-churning rise in racism, whistleblowing and victimisation in the NHS. The use of nationally set productivity targets combined with austerity cuts have increasingly put clinical best-practice into direct conflict with funding. Health targets have become politically controlled, and performance has become a cynical exercise in ticking boxes, cascaded within trusts and bulldozed through frontline services. This has led directly to a precarious system of employment relations, subject to the continual restructuring of services rather than the goal of creating functioning interdisciplinary teams that stand a chance of capturing clinical excellence. This book is written for workers and managers who are on the frontline of the battle for decent healthcare. The content of this book is based on the ‘ordinary’ expertise of the people who are actually surviving it and helpful ideas about making the best out of a bad lot. Surviving Work in Healthcare will be of interest to healthcare professionals and anyone working on the frontline of healthcare as well as students of management, human resources and psychology.
