Book Radar Signals

Download or read book Radar Signals written by Charles Cook and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radar Signals: An Introduction to Theory and Application introduces the reader to the basic theory and application of radar signals that are designated as large time-bandwidth or pulse-compression waveforms. Topics covered include matched filtering and pulse compression; optimum predetection processing; the radar ambiguity function; and the linear frequency modulation waveform and matched filter. Parameter estimation and discrete coded waveforms are also discussed, along with the effects of distortion on matched-filter signals. This book is comprised of 14 chapters and begins with an overview of the concepts and techniques of pulse compression matched filtering, with emphasis on coding source and decoding device. The discussion then turns to the derivation of the matched-filter properties in order to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio; analysis of radar ambiguity function using the principle of stationary phase; parameter estimation and the method of maximum likelihood; and measurement accuracies of matched-filter radar signals. Waveform design criteria for multiple and dense target environments are also considered. The final chapter describes a number of techniques for designing microwave dispersive delays. This monograph will be a useful resource for graduate students and practicing engineers in the field of radar system engineering.

Book Surface Acoustic Wave Filters

Download or read book Surface Acoustic Wave Filters written by David Morgan and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2010-07-27 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface Acoustic Wave Filters gives the fundamental principles and device design techniques for surface acoustic wave filters. It covers the devices in widespread use today: bandpass and pulse compression filters, correlators and non-linear convolvers and resonators. The newest technologies for low bandpass filters are fully covered such as unidirectional transducers, resonators in impedance element filters, resonators in double-mode surface acoustic wave filters and transverse-coupled resonators using waveguides. The book covers the theory of acoustic wave physics, the piezoelectric effect, electrostatics at a surface, effective permittivity, piezoelectric SAW excitation and reception, and the SAW element factor. These are the main requirements for developing quasi-static theory, which gives a basis for the non-reflective transducers in transversal bandpass filters and interdigital pulse compression filters. It is also needed for the reflective transducers used in the newer devices. A thorough revision of a classic on surface acoustic wave filters first published in 1985 and still in print Uniquely combines easy-to-understand principles with practical design techniques for all the devices in widespread use today Complete coverage of all the latest devices which are key to mobile phones, TVs and radar systems Includes a new foreword by Sir Eric Albert Ash

This book was released on 2000 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices are recognized for their versatility and efficiency in controlling and processing electrical signals. This has resulted in a multitude of device concepts for a wide range of signal processing functions, such as delay lines, filters, resonators, pulse compressors, convolvers, and many more. As SAW technology has found its way into mass market products such as TV receivers, pagers, keyless entry systems and cellular phones, the production volume has risen to millions of devices produced every day. At the other end of the scale, there are specialized high performance signal processing SAW devices for satellite communication and military applications, such as radar and electronic warfare. This volume, together with Volume 2, presents an overview of recent advances in SAW technology, systems and applications by some of the foremost researchers in this exciting field.

Book Principles of Modern Radar

Download or read book Principles of Modern Radar written by Jerry Eaves and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 709 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, Principles of Modern Radar, has as its genesis a Georgia Tech short course of the same title. This short course has been presented an nually at Georgia Tech since 1969, and a very comprehensive set of course notes has evolved during that seventeen year period. The 1986 edition of these notes ran to 22 chapters, and all of the authors involved, except Mr. Barrett, were full time members of the Georgia Tech research faculty. After considerable encouragement from various persons at the university and within the radar community, we undertook the task of editing the course notes for formal publication. The contents of the book that ensued tend to be practical in nature, since each contributing author is a practicing engineer or scientist and each was selected to write on a topic embraced by his area(s) of expertise. Prime examples are Chaps. 2, 5, and 10, which were authored by E. F. Knott, G. W. Ewell, and N. C. Currie, respectively. Each of these three researchers is rec ognized in the radar community as an expert in the technical area that his chap ter addresses, and each had already authored and published a major book on his subject. Several other contributing authors, including Dr. Bodnar, Mr. Bruder, Mr. Corriher, Dr. Reedy, Dr. Trebits, and Mr. Scheer, also have major book publications to their credit.

Book Phonons in Semiconductor Nanostructures

Download or read book Phonons in Semiconductor Nanostructures written by J.P. Leburton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last ten years, the physics and technology of low dimensional structures has experienced a tremendous development. Quantum structures with vertical and lateral confinements are now routinely fabricated with feature sizes below 100 run. While quantization of the electron states in mesoscopic systems has been the subject of intense investigation, the effect of confinement on lattice vibrations and its influence on the electron-phonon interaction and energy dissipation in nanostructures received atten tion only recently. This NATO Advanced Research Workshop on Phonons in Sem iconductor Nanostructures was a forum for discussion on the latest developments in the physics of phonons and their impact on the electronic properties of low-dimensional structures. Our goal was to bring together specialists in lattice dynamics and nanos tructure physics to assess the increasing importance of phonon effects on the physical properties of one-(lD) and zero-dimensional (OD) structures. The Workshop addressed various issues related to phonon physics in III-V, II-VI and IV semiconductor nanostructures. The following topics were successively covered: Models for confined phonons in semiconductor nanostructures, latest experimental observations of confined phonons and electron-phonon interaction in two-dimensional systems, elementary excitations in nanostructures, phonons and optical processes in reduced dimensionality systems, phonon limited transport phenomena, hot electron effects in quasi - ID structures, carrier relaxation and phonon bottleneck in quantum dots.
