Book Differential Manifolds A Basic Approach For Experimental Physicists

Download or read book Differential Manifolds A Basic Approach For Experimental Physicists written by Paul Baillon and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2013-11-22 with total page 593 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Differential Manifold is the framework of particle physics and astrophysics nowadays. It is important for all research physicists to be well accustomed to it and even experimental physicists should be able to manipulate equations and expressions in that framework. This book gives a comprehensive description of the basics of differential manifold with a full proof of any element. A large part of the book is devoted to the basic mathematical concepts in which all necessary for the development of the differential manifold is expounded and fully proved. This book is self-consistent: it starts from first principles. The mathematical framework is the set theory with its axioms and its formal logic. No special knowledge is needed.

Book Spectral Theory and Differential Operators

Download or read book Spectral Theory and Differential Operators written by David Eric Edmunds and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018 with total page 610 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an updated version of the classic 1987 monograph "Spectral Theory and Differential Operators".The original book was a cutting edge account of the theory of bounded and closed linear operators in Banach and Hilbert spaces relevant to spectral problems involving differential equations. It is accessible to a graduate student as well as meeting the needs of seasoned researchers in mathematics and mathematical physics. This revised edition corrects various errors, and adds extensive notes to the end of each chapter which describe the considerable progress that has been made on the topic in the last 30 years.

Book Computability and Complexity

Download or read book Computability and Complexity written by Hubie Chen and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2023-08-29 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A clear, comprehensive, and rigorous introduction to the theory of computation. What is computable? What leads to efficiency in computation? Computability and Complexity offers a clear, comprehensive, and rigorous introduction to the mathematical study of the capabilities and limitations of computation. Hubie Chen covers the core notions, techniques, methods, and questions of the theory of computation before turning to several advanced topics. Emphasizing intuitive learning and conceptual discussion, this textbook’s accessible approach offers a robust foundation for understanding both the reach and restrictions of algorithms and computers. Extensive exercises and diagrams enhance streamlined, student-friendly presentation of mathematically rigorous material Includes thorough treatment of automata theory, computability theory, and complexity theory—including the P versus NP question and the theory of NP-completeness Suitable for undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and professionals

Book A Comparison Process for Mouse Pairs

Download or read book A Comparison Process for Mouse Pairs written by John R. Steel and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2022-11-24 with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book proves some important new theorems in the theory of canonical inner models for large cardinal hypotheses, a topic of central importance in modern set theory. In particular, the author 'completes' the theory of Fine Structure and Iteration Trees (FSIT) by proving a comparison theorem for mouse pairs parallel to the FSIT comparison theorem for pure extender mice, and then using the underlying comparison process to develop a fine structure theory for strategy mice. Great effort has been taken to make the book accessible to non-experts so that it may also serve as an introduction to the higher reaches of inner model theory. It contains a good deal of background material, some of it unpublished folklore, and includes many references to the literature to guide further reading. An introductory essay serves to place the new results in their broader context. This is a landmark work in inner model theory that should be in every set theorist's library.

Book Inner Product Structures

    Book Details:
  • Author : V.I. Istratescu
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 940093713X
  • Pages : 909 pages

Download or read book Inner Product Structures written by V.I. Istratescu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 909 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Approach your problems from the right end It isn't that they can't see the solution. It is and begin with the answers. Then one day, that they can't see the problem. perhaps you will find the final question. G. K. Chesterton. The Scandal of Father 'The Hermit Oad in Crane Feathers' in R. Brown 'The point of a Pin'. van Gulik's The Chinese Maze Murders. Growing specialization and diversification have brought a host of monographs and textbooks on increasingly specialized topics. However, the "tree" of knowledge of mathematics and related fields does not grow only by putting forth new branches. It also happens, quite often in fact, that branches which were thought to be completely disparate are suddenly seen to be related. Further, the kind and level of sophistication of mathematics applied in various sciences has changed drastically in recent years: measure theory is used (non-trivially) in regional and theoretical economics; algebraic geometry interacts with physics; the Minkowsky lemma, coding theory and the structure of water meet one another in packing and covering theory; quantum fields, crystal defects and mathematical programming profit from homotopy theory; Lie algebras are relevant to filtering; and prediction and electrical engineering can use Stein spaces. And in addition to this there are such new emerging subdisciplines as "experimental mathematics", "CFD", "completely integrable systems", "chaos, synergetics and large-scale order", which are almost impossible to fit into the existing classification schemes. They draw upon widely different sections of mathematics.

Book Statistical Decision Theory

Download or read book Statistical Decision Theory written by F. Liese and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-12-30 with total page 696 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For advanced graduate students, this book is a one-stop shop that presents the main ideas of decision theory in an organized, balanced, and mathematically rigorous manner, while observing statistical relevance. All of the major topics are introduced at an elementary level, then developed incrementally to higher levels. The book is self-contained as it provides full proofs, worked-out examples, and problems. The authors present a rigorous account of the concepts and a broad treatment of the major results of classical finite sample size decision theory and modern asymptotic decision theory. With its broad coverage of decision theory, this book fills the gap between standard graduate texts in mathematical statistics and advanced monographs on modern asymptotic theory.
