For purposes of this review, we limited our assessment of historic properties to buildings and structures the predominant types of historic properties in the Department of Defense.

Spence National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2001, which required us to determine the reliability of the services current and projected inventory of historic properties and the availability of data on the cost of maintaining and repairing these properties. Before discussing our specific observations, I would like to briefly summarize the key points in my statement.
