Book Defects and Diffusion in Metals

Download or read book Defects and Diffusion in Metals written by David J. Fisher and published by Trans Tech Publications Ltd. This book was released on 2000-01-05 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second issue, following DDF165-166, to cover recent progress in this field. As usual, priority in abstracting has been given to the most accessible work and, in particular, to those papers which furnish original data or report important new techniques, phenomena or anomalies, although there is also extensive overage of more qualitative features of diffusion and defect phenomena, of the predictions of computer models, and of theoretical studies.

Book C H N and O in Si and Characterization and Simulation of Materials and Processes

Download or read book C H N and O in Si and Characterization and Simulation of Materials and Processes written by A. Borghesi and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Containing over 200 papers, this volume contains the proceedings of two symposia in the E-MRS series. Part I presents a state of the art review of the topic - Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen and Oxygen in Silicon and in Other Elemental Semiconductors. There was strong representation from the industrial laboratories, illustrating that the topic is highly relevant for the semiconductor industry. The second part of the volume deals with a topic which is undergoing a process of convergence with two concerns that are more particularly application oriented. Firstly, the advanced instrumentation which, through the use of atomic force and tunnel microscopies, high resolution electron microscopy and other high precision analysis instruments, now allows for direct access to atomic mechanisms. Secondly, the technological development which in all areas of applications, particularly in the field of microelectronics and microsystems, requires as a result of the miniaturisation race, a precise mastery of the microscopic mechanisms.

Book Diffusion in Materials

Download or read book Diffusion in Materials written by A.L. Laskar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 684 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is the proceedings of the NATO Advanced Study Institute, "Diffusion in Materials", held at "Centre Paul Langevin", Aussois, during March 12-25, 1989. There were 105 participants of whom 24 were lecturers and members of the international advisory committee. In addition to the participants from NATO countries, a small number of participants came from Australia, Hungary, Poland and Tunisia. The principal aim of the organizing committee was to bring together scientists of wide interest and expertise in the field of diffusion and to familiarize the young workers in material science with the wide range of theoretical models and methods and of experimental techniques . The Institute was concerned with the study of diffusion and related phenomena in solids which are at the cutting edge of novel technologies. The discussion of basic theories of defects in solids and their transport, with their applications in the understanding of diffusion processes in "simple solids" was followed by the wide range of current theoretical models and methods, experimental techniques and their potential. The lectures on the diffusion in specific materials included : metals, dilute and concentrated alloys, simple and compound semiconductors, stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric oxides, high-Tc compounds, carbides, nitrides, silicates, conducting polymers and thin films, ionic, superionic, amorphous and irradiated materials.

Book Coupled Diffusion Of Impurity Atoms And Point Defects In Silicon Crystals

Download or read book Coupled Diffusion Of Impurity Atoms And Point Defects In Silicon Crystals written by Oleg Velichko and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2019-11-05 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work presents a comprehensive theory describing atomic diffusion in silicon crystals under strong nonequilibrium conditions caused by ion implantation and interaction with the surface or other interfaces. A set of generalized equations that describe diffusion of impurity atoms and point defects are presented in a form suitable for solving numerically. Based on this theory, partial diffusion models are constructed, and the simulation of many doping processes used in microelectronics is carried out.Coupled Diffusion of Impurity Atoms and Point Defects in Silicon Crystals is a useful text for researchers, engineers, and advanced students in semiconductor physics, microelectronics, and nanoelectronics. It helps readers acquire a deep understanding of the physics of diffusion and demonstrates the practical application of the theoretical ideas formulated to find cheaper solutions in the course of manufacturing semiconductor devices and integrated microcircuits.

Book Topics in the Theory of Solid Materials

Download or read book Topics in the Theory of Solid Materials written by J.M. Vail and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Topics in the Theory of Solid Materials provides a clear and rigorous introduction to a wide selection of topics in solid materials, overlapping traditional courses in both condensed matter physics and materials science and engineering. It introduces both the continuum properties of matter, traditionally the realm of materials science courses, and the quantum mechanical properties that are usually more emphasized in solid state physics courses, and integrates them in a manner that will be of use to students of either subject. The book spans a range of basic and more advanced topics, including stress and strain, wave propagation, thermal properties, surface waves, polarons, phonons, point defects, magnetism, and charge density waves. Topics in the Theory of Solid Materials is eminently suitable for graduates and final-year undergraduates in physics, materials science, and engineering, as well as more advanced researchers in academia and industry studying solid materials.
