Book Decision Trees for Fault Diagnosis in Circuits and Switching Networks

Download or read book Decision Trees for Fault Diagnosis in Circuits and Switching Networks written by Monther Busbait and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-09-11 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, we study decision trees for fault diagnosis in circuits and switching networks, which are among the most fundamental models for computing Boolean functions. We consider two main cases: when the scheme (circuit or switching network) has the same mode of operation for both calculation and diagnostics, and when the scheme has two modes of operation—normal for calculation and special for diagnostics. In the former case, we get mostly negative results, including superpolynomial lower bounds on the minimum depth of diagnostic decision trees depending on scheme complexity and the NP-hardness of construction diagnostic decision trees. In the latter case, we describe classes of schemes and types of faults for which decision trees can be effectively used to diagnose schemes, when they are transformed into so-called iteration-free schemes. The tools and results discussed in this book help to understand both the possibilities and challenges of using decision trees to diagnose faults in various schemes. The book is useful to specialists both in the field of theoretical and technical diagnostics. It can also be used for the creation of courses for graduate students.

Book Fault Diagnosis Systems

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis Systems written by Rolf Isermann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-16 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With increasing demands for efficiency and product quality plus progress in the integration of automatic control systems in high-cost mechatronic and safety-critical processes, the field of supervision (or monitoring), fault detection and fault diagnosis plays an important role. The book gives an introduction into advanced methods of fault detection and diagnosis (FDD). After definitions of important terms, it considers the reliability, availability, safety and systems integrity of technical processes. Then fault-detection methods for single signals without models such as limit and trend checking and with harmonic and stochastic models, such as Fourier analysis, correlation and wavelets are treated. This is followed by fault detection with process models using the relationships between signals such as parameter estimation, parity equations, observers and principal component analysis. The treated fault-diagnosis methods include classification methods from Bayes classification to neural networks with decision trees and inference methods from approximate reasoning with fuzzy logic to hybrid fuzzy-neuro systems. Several practical examples for fault detection and diagnosis of DC motor drives, a centrifugal pump, automotive suspension and tire demonstrate applications.

Book Multiple Approaches to Intelligent Systems

Download or read book Multiple Approaches to Intelligent Systems written by Ibrahim F. Imam and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-05-19 with total page 918 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We never create anything, We discover and reproduce. The Twelfth International Conference on Industrial and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems has a distinguished theme. It is concerned with bridging the gap between the academic and the industrial worlds of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Expert Systems. The academic world is mainly concerned with discovering new algorithms, approaches, and methodologies; however, the industrial world is mainly driven by profits, and concerned with producing new products or solving customers’ problems. Ten years ago, the artificial intelligence research gap between academia and industry was very broad. Recently, this gap has been narrowed by the emergence of new fields and new joint research strategies in academia. Among the new fields which contributed to the academic-industrial convergence are knowledge representation, machine learning, searching, reasoning, distributed AI, neural networks, data mining, intelligent agents, robotics, pattern recognition, vision, applications of expert systems, and others. It is worth noting that the end results of research in these fields are usually products rather than empirical analyses and theoretical proofs. Applications of such technologies have found great success in many domains including fraud detection, internet service, banking, credit risk and assessment, telecommunication, etc. Progress in these areas has encouraged the leading corporations to institute research funding programs for academic institutes. Others have their own research laboratories, some of which produce state of the art research.

Book Fuzzy Control Estimation and Diagnosis

Download or read book Fuzzy Control Estimation and Diagnosis written by Magdi S. Mahmoud and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-06-15 with total page 689 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook explains the principles of fuzzy systems in some depth together with information useful in realizing them within computational processes. The various algorithms and example problem solutions are a well-balanced and pertinent aid for research projects, laboratory work and graduate study. In addition to its worked examples, the book also uses end-of-chapter exercises as an instructional aid with a downloadable solutions manual available to instructors. The content of the book is developed and extended from material taught for four years in the author’s classes. The text provides a broad overview of fuzzy control, estimation and fault diagnosis. It ranges over various classes of target system and modes of control and then turns to filtering, stabilization, and fault detection and diagnosis. Applications, simulation tools and an appendix on algebraic inequalities complete a unified approach to the analysis of single and interconnected fuzzy systems. Fuzzy Control, Estimation and Fault Detection is a guide for final-year undergraduate and graduate students of electrical and mechanical engineering, computer science and information technology, and will also be instructive for professionals in the information technology sector.

Book Logic Design of NanoICS

Download or read book Logic Design of NanoICS written by Svetlana N. Yanushkevich and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today's engineers will confront the challenge of a new computing paradigm, relying on micro- and nanoscale devices. Logic Design of NanoICs builds a foundation for logic in nanodimensions and guides you in the design and analysis of nanoICs using CAD. The authors present data structures developed toward applications rather than a purely theoretical treatment. Requiring only basic logic and circuits background, Logic Design of NanoICs draws connections between traditional approaches to design and modern design in nanodimensions. The book begins with an introduction to the directions and basic methodology of logic design at the nanoscale, then proceeds to nanotechnologies and CAD, graphical representation of switching functions and networks, word-level and linear word-level data structures, 3-D topologies based on hypercubes, multilevel circuit design, and fault-tolerant computation in hypercube-like structures. The authors propose design solutions and techniques, going beyond the underlying technology to provide more applied knowledge. This design-oriented reference is written for engineers interested in developing the next generation of integrated circuitry, illustrating the discussion with approximately 250 figures and tables, 100 equations, 250 practical examples, and 100 problems. Each chapter concludes with a summary, references, and a suggested reading section.
