The research involved working closely with the accounting, marketing and physical distribution personnel of 18 companies in the United States and Canada. These companies were selected so as to represent equally mnufacturers who sell to consumer and non-consumer (industrial and institutional) markets. In terms of industrial grouping, the participating companies represent packaged goods, durable goods and the process industry.
