Book Decentralized Finance and Asset Tokenization Disrupting Traditional Business Models and Promoting Financial Inclusion

Download or read book Decentralized Finance and Asset Tokenization Disrupting Traditional Business Models and Promoting Financial Inclusion written by Weiss Philipp and published by . This book was released on with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decentralized Finance and asset tokenization are challenging and transforming traditional financial norms. This study investigates their impacts on traditional financial systems, financial inclusion, and consumer empowerment. It was done via a literature review and six interviews with industry experts representing both traditional institutionsand DeFi representatives. The empirical data was analyzed using the Qualitative Content Analysis based on Mayring. Findings indicate that DeFi introduces openness, transparency, and autonomy to financial activities. Asset tokenization further enhances accessibility by enabling fractional ownership. The influence on traditional financial institutions ranges from optimization opportunities to regulatory challenges. A shift in power from institutions to consumers is driven by financial self-sovereignty. Financial inclusion and empowerment are central outcomes. User experience and interoperability must be improved to reach a wider adoption. This thesis emphasizes the need for a balance between innovation and regulation for sustainable progress in the financial sector.

Book DeFi and the Future of Finance

Download or read book DeFi and the Future of Finance written by Campbell R. Harvey and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-08-19 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the Global Financial Crisis in 2008, our financial infrastructure failed. Governments bailed out the very institutions that let the economy down. This episode spurred a serious rethink of our financial system. Does it make any sense that it takes two days to settle a stock transaction? Why do retailers, operating on razor thin margins, have to pay 3% for every customer credit card swipe? Why does it take two days to transfer money from a bank account to a brokerage—or any other company? Why are savings rates miniscule or negative? Why is it so difficult for entrepreneurs to get financing at traditional banks? In DeFi and the Future of Finance, Campbell R. Harvey, Ashwin Ramachandran and Joey Santoro, introduce the new world of Decentralized Finance. The book argues that the current financial landscape is ripe for disruption and we are seeing, in real time, the reinvention of finance. The authors provide the reader with a clear assessment of the problems with the current financial system and how DeFi solves many of these problems. The essence of DeFi is that we interact with peers—there is no brick and mortar and all of the associated costs. Savings and lending are reinvented. Trading takes place with algorithms far removed from traditional brokerages. The book conducts a deep dive on some of the most innovative protocols such as Uniswap and Compound. Many of the companies featured in the book you might not have heard of—however, you will in the future. As with any new technology, there are a myriad of risks and the authors carefully catalogue these risks and assess which ones can be successfully mitigated. Ideally suited for people working in any part of the finance industry as well as financial policy makers, DeFi and the Future of Finance gives readers a vision of the future. The world of finance will fundamentally be changed over the coming decade. The book enables you to become part of the disruption – not the target of the disruption.

Book Decentralized Finance Explained

Download or read book Decentralized Finance Explained written by IntroBooks Team and published by IntroBooks. This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blockchain-built dApps, protocols, smart contracts, and digital assets are the key elements of decentralized finance. The Ethereum framework is the primary choice for the DeFi application considering the adaptability and the level of development, but that doesn't imply it's the only blockchain forum. DeFi is a development in the cryptocurrency industry, aimed at recreating conventional banking services without centralized technologies. Bitcoin itself is a prototypical illustration of DeFi; the majority of other cryptocurrencies depend on central organizers or issuers. DeFi is implemented via dApps, typically installed on either a blockchain such as Ethereum or a tangle such as IOTA. Decentralization suggests that there is no single point of failure since similar records are kept across a peer-to-peer network throughout a plethora of computers. Since it's unregulated, it is also available to all regardless of their income or where they stay. And, while a payment processing firm or a bank can close an unseemly customer's account, blockchains are immune to surveillance.

Book Blockchain Fintech and Islamic Finance

Download or read book Blockchain Fintech and Islamic Finance written by Hazik Mohamed and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-09-05 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the success of the first edition that brought attention to the digital revolution in Islamic financial services, comes this revised and updated second edition of Blockchain, Fintech and Islamic Finance. The authors reiterate the potential of digital disruption to shrink the role and relevance of today’s banks, while simultaneously creating better, faster, cheaper services that will be an essential part of everyday life. Digital transformation will also offer the ability to create new ways to better comply to Islamic values in order to rebuild trust and confidence in the current financial system. In this new edition, they explore current concepts of decentralized finance (DeFi), distributed intelligence, stablecoins, and the integration of AI, blockchain, data analytics and IoT devices for a holistic solution to ensure technology adoption in a prudent and sustainable manner. The book discusses crucial innovation, structural and institutional developments for financial technologies including two fast-growing trends that merge and complement each other: tokenization, where all illiquid assets in the world, from private equity to real estate and luxury goods, become liquid and can be traded more efficiently, and second, the rise of a new tokenized economy where inevitably new rules and ways to enforce them will develop to fully unleash their capabilities. These complementary and oft-correlated trends will complete the decentralization of finance and will influence the way future financial services will be implemented. This book provides insights into the shift in processes, as well as the challenges that need to be overcome for practical applications for AI and blockchain and how to approach such innovations. It also covers new technological risks that are the consequence of utilizing frontier technologies such as AI, blockchain and IoT. Industry leaders, Islamic finance professionals, along with students and academics in the fields of Islamic finance and economics will benefit immensely from this book.

Book Blockchain Decentralized Finance

Download or read book Blockchain Decentralized Finance written by Andrew Walker and published by Andrew Walker. This book was released on 2022-10-07 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blockchain technology and the invention of smart-contracts running on it have given rise to Decentralized Finance. At the time of its birth, DeFi was seen as a response to the 2008 crisis and a hope to democratize finance. By eliminating the role of intermediaries and fluidifying property through tokenization, finance would become accessible to all. To overcome all the obstacles it faced (volatility, security issues, distrust etc.), DeFi had to find original ways to develop, by leveraging sociologically diverse communities of enthusiastic developers, users and investors from all over the world. In particular, it has distinguished itself in the fields of communication, marketing and community building through an original use of social networks and messaging tools. We have specifically emphasized these latter aspects, based on our professional experience and interviews with experts working in the field. It appears that DeFi is potentially interesting for companies. Indeed, Blockchain technology is generalizable to many other areas of economic activity beyond finance. Moreover, the DeFi communities foreshadow the communities of entrepreneurs and users/consumers of the future Web3.0. DeFi is the manifestation of a new era of the Internet. Due to key elements of blockchain and smart contracts, the value of data could be wrested from the hands of Internet giants, that control the ad market, and be restituted to businesses and consumers. Through the direct relationship with the consumer, this technology is becoming a powerful tool for optimizing business operations, reducing costs and creating value. Businesses will have to reconsider relationship with their customers, in a spirit of community and direct interaction with them (which blockchain allows, i.e. through remuneration of the user/customer). However, if blockchain technology is mature, its use is still too amateurish. In this context, it is crucial to rely on recognized professionals, because a hasty implementation can lead to serious risks for the reputational and financial integrity of companies. Experts we have interviewed have emphasized this key issue. On the one hand, a business with significant capital can invest heavily in Web3.0 and can develop its own blockchain solutions to stay ahead of its competitors. On the other hand, a small business cannot do the same. With less technical and financial capital, the small business is currently only able to implement technologies that are not very advanced and whose utilization carries risks. But the situation may change rapidly in the future. Get this book and you will learn more on blockchain and decentralized finance.
