This book was released on 1992-01-24 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main theme of the workshop is to discuss problems of nucleosynthesis in the Universe, specifically in connections to the unstable atomic nuclei, which would play a crucial role in explosive burning processes. This subject is strongly backed up by an increasing interest in studying unstable nuclei in nuclear physics. The subjects include primordial nucleosynthesis, Hot-CNO cycle and rapid-proton process, neutrino-induced nucleosynthesis, equation of state of neutron-rich matter etc.

Book Additional Results from the Beta delayed Proton Decays Of sup 27 P And sup 31 Cl

Download or read book Additional Results from the Beta delayed Proton Decays Of sup 27 P And sup 31 Cl written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The experimental investigation of the decays of proton-rich light nuclei has provided a wealth of spectroscopic information. This includes details of energy levels, spins, isospins, masses, half-lives and other decay properties. In light nuclei, total beta decay energies rapidly increase as one moves away from the valley of beta-stable nuclides towards the proton drip line. This opens up decay modes, such as beta-delayed proton and beta-delayed alpha emission, which are very sensitive probes of nuclear structure. There have been several recent articles that review the decay properties of proton drip-line nuclei. The beta decays of proton-rich light nuclei (with T[sub z][le] -1/2) are characterized by two general features. The first is a fast superallowed Fermi transition to the isobaric analog state (IAS) in the beta daughter. If the IAS is above the proton separation energy, the beta-decaying precursor nuclide is classified as a strong beta-delayed proton emitter. The A= 4n+1, T[sub z]=-3/2 series of nuclei from[sup 17]Ne to[sup 73]Sr (with the exception of the unobserved member[sup 69]Kr), are all strong[Beta]p emitters. In contrast, the A= 4n, T[sub z]=-1 series of nuclei, from[sup 24]Al to[sup 48]Mn are designated as weak[Beta]p emitters since the IAS in the beta daughters is bound with respect to proton emission.

Book Prospects for Studies of Ground state Proton Decays with the Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility

Download or read book Prospects for Studies of Ground state Proton Decays with the Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By using radioactive ions from the Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory it should be possible to identify many new ground-state proton emitters in the mass region from Sn to Pb. During this production and search process the limits of stability on the proton-rich side of the nuclidic chart will be delineated for a significant fraction of medium-weight elements and our understanding of the proton-emission process will be expanded and improved.

Book Spectroscopy of Exotic Proton rich Nuclei Close to A

Download or read book Spectroscopy of Exotic Proton rich Nuclei Close to A written by Lee James Angus and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three experiments have been performed in order to identify excited states ill the neutron-deficient isotopes 117La and 118,120Ba. In the first experiment, the recoil decay-tagging method has been used, utilising the, JUROGAM II germanium-detector array in conjunction with the Recoil Ion Transport Unit and the Gamma Recoil Electron Alpha Tagging spectrometer to study the 64Zn(58Ni,p4n)117La reaction. In the subsequent analysis the proton decay from the ground-state of 117La was observed with an energy and half life of Eproton = 810 (2) keY, and tl/2 = 21 (2) ms, respectively. By tagging on the 117La proton decay energy, it has been possible to observe new ,,-ray transitions between excited states in 117La. Due to the lack of counts it has not been possible to determine coincidence relationships, however, the spectra suggests that the 1fhll/2 band and possibly the 1f97/2 [422) 3/2+ band, may be the source of the observed y-rays, and hence, it is possible that the proton decaying state is fed by both of these. In the second experiment the Garnrnasphere germanium-detector array was used in standalone mode to study the 58Ni(64Zn,2p2n)1l8Ba and 58Ni(64Zn,2p )120Ba reactions. In the third experiment the same reactions were studied, this time utilising Gammasphcrc in conjunction with the Microball charged-particle detector array and the Argonne Fragment Mass Analyser. For 120Ba, the subsequent analysis has revealed a strongly-coupled rotational band, observed up to 23h and assigned a configuration of 7T[(g9/2)-lhll /2). In addition, the low-lying negative-parity band based on the 1T[g7/2hll/2) configuration has been extended up to 29h and its signature partner observed up to 26h. For llBBa, the ground-state band has been tentatively extended up to 24h, and a signature partner for the low-lying negative-parity band has been observed up to 16h. Angular-distribution coefficients ha.ve been extracted and used to determine y-ray multipolarities and mixing ratios. Ratios of reduced transition probabilities B(Ml)/B(E2) and B(El)/B(E2) have also been measured and used to investigate the structure of the states.
